As for your movie also very well done.
(if you could see my efforts you would laugh out loud - you set an excellent example.)
Thx Bobbi - hopefully we’ll both improve and keep busy !! ciao, Roland

Congratulations!
I just subscribed to your YouTube channel.
Amazing @pando that’s a massive achievement. Here’s to soon being stick free for you.
Many Thanks @Gaina ! I hope there is something there to inspire you !
Roland
Bravo and congratulations
Now keep on going without that ball and chain of a crutch holding you back. Did you even notice how your stroke arm was trying to mimic the movements, the natural swing of the your good arm. Without the stick masking the movements of your good arm, it’s giving the brain more valuable information to relay to your stroke arm.
And I’m finding it funny that my focus is more on how well your stroke arm is moving and excited for its future progress. But your stroke leg is looking good too😅 Actually I like how much you’ve sped up too, that’s a big help to regaining your more natural walking gait.
I sped up that video x2 on my phone and the one thing that stood out for me the most was how much your stroke arm really wants to come down. When my arm was at that point, I started using using cuff weights on my arm when out walking (we were in lockdown at that time so I didn’t give two hoots for how it looked). Your arm needs that bit of weight to help pull it down so that it can stay down more and stands a better chance of getting more natural swing of movement to it. You need to use cuff weights when you are out walking. You can get them as fix weights of 1,2,or 5lb or there are now pocket cuffs which you can add the desired amount of weight want. Mine were fixed so when the time came I just wore the two cuffs
I wore my cuffs a lot, even around the house. And when out walking I was doing bicep curls and arm raises, even carried a strength gripper to work on my hand. And even now when I nip to the shop for milk, I still do a few arm exercises with it on the walk home
Lorraine
Thanks Lorraine,
understanding what that arm is doing is not easy ; it’s bracing for CORE stability. But yes, I am working on lowering it, swinging back more to aid gait, working on closing feet, and ankle flexibility. Those are just the highlights !
thanks for your feedback, ciao, Roland
That is truly marvellous! Well done
I have run out of superlatives for you Roland. You are The Human Bean and you are on your way to the 110% of your former self. I wish you continued success.
I love the Superman pose and I love the behind the scene skills and contributions of your wonderful wife Simonetta. You are are great team!
That’s impressive. Well done you! I find walking on grass quite tricky, so that’s doubly impressive.
Thx @MinnieB - I see ; I like grass ; I have always felt that it will provide me with a soft landing if I fall ; that makes me feel safe as I used to play rugby and roll around the grass when I was at school ½ century ago
Hi there that’s impressive. I still can’t leave the house without my stick and hope to do what you have done . I ask my self is it my confidence or lack of holding me back or do I still really need it for balance and support. It’s hard breaking the cycle .
Hi @Mick1 and welcome to the community. Hope you are doing ok.
It may be a confidence thing but walking outside is a different beast to around the house. You could try taking your stick out but not using it for a bit & see how you go. That way you have it if you need it.
Ask any questions you may have. There’s always someone who can help.
Best wishes
Ann
Well done @pando, what an amazing achievement! Great video

Greetings @Mick1 - Welcome to the community.
Hopefully your goal to leave the house without the stick will be realised soon. I mean you could leave the house without the stick right now, for example, if you have a partner who can hold your hand? I say this, not to be trivial or anything like that, but about 20 years ago one of my cousins was looking after her elderly father who was unable to walk and that is how she got him walking!!
Every day with a little bit of physio to warm up / loosen muscles etc. and then with a bear hug, she would slowly help him to stand up, supporting him all the time and then she would walk backwards and he would walk forwards. Tiny steps to start with but it paid off and in the end he was able to do it by himself.
It wasn’t easy and a lot of hard work went in for many months.
Now, if that doesn’t inspire you even more after Roland’s rather impressive achievement then I guess we’ll just have to dig a little deeper for it is possible.
One thing that occurs as I write this, and I am a big fan of Roland and what he does, I would like to suggest to you, if it is at all possible do this one thing to help you - Walk / stand bear foot on grass. It’s called earthing and I am a believer in this as is Roland.
It is truly wonderful - you just need a patch of grass - in your back garden or a nearby park or similar.
Wishing you all the best.

Thank you @ManjiB,
@Mick1 Standing or walking (if possible) bare-foot serves 2 purposes:
Both are free (if you can bring yourself to do them)
Ps. thx for reposting my Earthing article - I just reread it, and am still pleased with what I wrote. There is a longer version too Earthing (or Grounding) Long Version
Ciao, Roland
Indeed it’s as hard as hard can be. I’ve been at it 2½ years, and it has been anything but a smooth ride !!
