Earthing is a critical aspect of electrical safety and stability. It provides a safe path for a current to return to the earth in the event of a fault, preventing electric shock, equipment damage, and fire. Every appliance in the house is grounded, but there is one, entirely electrical, which is not; our body.
For example, our entire nervous system sends signals through neurons using tiny electrical currents. Our heart has its own built-in electrical impulse system that controls its rhythm. An electrolyte imbalance can lead to muscle cramps, irregular heartbeats, or nerve issues. Our bodies even generate electricity. Virtually every function we perform depends on carefully controlled electrical activity. However, over time, our bodies can accumulate a detrimental positive electric charge, through static electricity, electronic devices, our environment, and unwanted AC voltage induced on the body. Even carrying around a small, positive electric charge can be just as dire for us, as for our beloved electrical appliances. We malfunction, experiencing loss of sleep, inflammation, chronic pain and eventually, autoimmune disease. Luckily these positive charges can be neutralized by walking barefoot on the Earth, taking a shower, touching pipes, or grounding ourselves electrically. For this we can use a grounding mat, a wristband, or sheets all connected through a wire to the grounding pin in your socket, but do test the outlet in the home. By grounding we create an electrical connection between our bodies and the Earth’s surface. An electric charge flows between our bodies and the ground, bringing us to the same electrical potential as the Earth. So, if we are positively (+) charged, electrons (-) flow into us to equalize.
Grounding leads to a plethora of health benefits allowing us to sleep better; thin our blood; increase circulation; and reduce inflammation by supplying free electrons (from Earth, or Gaia) to the site of injury.
