Our friendly team of staff moderators are here to create a safe and supportive space for everyone. While we’re not trained counsellors or health professionals, we are here to help maintain a friendly community and share useful information when needed.
Who we are
Anna, Online Community Coordinator
@Anna_Moderator
My role is to engage with the community and help to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. I can support you in finding resources that can aid you or your loved one’s recovery. You’ll see conversation starters from me, and I’ll likely be the person who engages with you within this space. As a stroke survivor myself, I have lived experience and understand the journey you’re on.
Alex, Online Community Manager
@Alex_Moderator
I manage the operation of the Online Community to ensure our members have a good experience when engaging with others. I work closely with other teams to develop the platform and how it functions. I will be the person who collates and escalates your feedback. You’ll also occasionally see me posting updates about system upgrades to the platform.
Nicola, Online Support Lead
@Nicola_Moderator
I oversee the Stroke Association’s Online Peer Support offers which include the Online Community and Online Activities. I will be the person who will action and implement changes in response to feedback. This will help shape our future plans for the Online Community in line with our charities objectives.
FAQ’s
How we will support the Online Community
- The peer support comes from you sharing your experiences with the community. The most valuable connections and recommendations come from those with lived experience.
- If we think we can offer additional support, we may provide signposting for further information.
How we will engage and keep you updated
- We have allocated spaces where we start conversations to get the community talking. We will also try our best to notify you in advance of any significant changes that could affect your experience on the platform. Whilst we welcome feedback about our updates, we ask that you provide this by filling out our feedback form.
How you can help keep this community supportive
- If necessary, we will remind the community of our rules to ensure everyone engages respectfully within this space. Whilst we regularly check posts, we rely on help from the community to let us know about any concerns by flagging posts.
