My name is Anna and I’m the Online Community Coordinator. My role is to support and help you as you use this space.
If you have any queries and if it’s something I can’t help you with, I’ll point you in the right direction. Additionally, I help to facilitate the Online Activities, and since starting this position, I have been running some of these sessions. I’ve also been learning all about how the Online Community functions. As I’ve been navigating through, a real highlight for me has been to see the support that you all provide for each other. I’m excited to move forwards into this role further and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all. I’ll be more visible, and you will start to see me engaging with you. I will also be posting some regular, lighthearted content so we can have a chat and connect with each other – keep an eye out for this, I’ll be posting them in them in the ‘Chat to Anna’ category.
A few fun facts about me:
I love ferns
I hate cheese – I know, I know, I’m an odd one! If there are any other cheese haters out there, please drop by and support me!
I’m scared of spiders I once threw my dinner across the room because a very large spider was crawling up my back!
You can read more about the rest of the team and how we moderate on our Meet the Team! 11 page
I’m looking forward to chatting with you all over the coming weeks.
There isn’t really any difference here to the rest of the forum other than I’ll likely be posting some content here that you may or may not want to engage in. This is just a little space within the wider forum for discussions and if you specifically want to chat with me
Hope this helps to clarify and please feel free to post wherever you feel more comfortable.

I feel so frustrated Anna and fightened that I will have another stroke.Would like to ask other members their advice but dont know how. This is my first time on the site Thank you Sue

Welcome to the community.
We do have some how to guides which may be useful for you, these will help you navigate your way through the Online Community but please feel free to ask on here as well if you’re struggling with anything.
Thanks for flagging this. I’ve tested the link in a few different ways and haven’t been able to replicate the issue that you’ve had.
Could you try clicking the link again to see if it’s working for you now. If it’s still not working could you provide more information on how you’re accessing the link.
Could you check if you can access the how to guides through the side bar, if you click on ‘help with this site’ and then go through to the how to guides that way? If you can get through that way you’ll see the link I’ve shared is the same as the one you’ve put in your last message.
If you can’t access them through the side bar either could you please pop a ticket through the service desk so we can investigate further for you.

Hello I’m new on here in November 2023 my husband had 8 strokes he is doing ok but he’s still suffering very bad with fatigue, if he does try to push himself to stay awake long I’m finding that the night or the next day he’s being sick. Is this normal? Or is it something to worry about? I’m always worried he may have another stroke but don’t want to keep taking him to the doctor or hospital as they are alway so busy. My husband was only 39 when he was poorly. Thank you for your time @anna
Welcome to the community, I’M sorry to hear about your husbands strokes.
Fatigue is very common after stroke and can lead to other symptoms the day after, there have been lots of conversations on here about pushing too hard and feeling out of sorts the next day. However if there is anything you are worried about it’s always best to get it checked by a GP or the hospital, don’t every worry or feel guilty about doing that.
We do have some information on fatigue on our webpage which may be helpful for you to have a read of, if you haven’t already.
Wishing you both well on your continued journey and please do keep us all posted on how things go for you both.
Hi Anna I hope you’re well. I had a stroke on Wednesday 5th and am new to all of this. Not sure where to start. Ive got hemianopia on the right side. I feel lucky. Im stronger and going to the gym later for gentle exercise. All of this is new obviously. Could you point me n the right direction.
Thank you very much.
Best regards
Richard
Welcome to the community, I’m sorry to hear about your stroke.
It’s great to hear that you’re going to gym and doing some gentle exercises. It’s still early days for your recovery so you may tire easily at this point so make sure you’re listening to your body and rest when you need to.
This forum is a great place to share your experiences and get tips and advice from other stroke survivors. To get you started with using this site, we have some guides that you can look over. We’ve separated these guides into sections to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
With regard to recovery in general and any questions or support you may need. I would encourage you to call our Stroke Support Helpline:0303 3033 100 if you haven’t done so already, they have a wealth of information and would be able to help with finding any local services that you may need.
I don’t want to bombard you with too much information at this point but I would say to have a read over the different topics on this forum, there is a wealth of knowledge here from people who have been in the same position as you are now who are willing to share their experiences.
I hope this helps, but if you need anything whilst you’re using the Online Community, please don’t hesitate to tag me using the @ symbol and my username.
I look forward to hearing more from you and hearing about your continued recovery journey.
