Mornings have been a struggle recently, so I have started getting out of bed as soon as Dad comes to take my dog out for his pre breakfast stroll around the garden.
This song gets me moving and kick starts the Endorphins, so I thought I’d share.
If you don’t have Spotify, it’s called ‘Energy’ by Disclosure.
It’s on a much longer ‘Cheerful’ playlist I created (it’s very eclectic and some of the lyrics might be a bit spicy, so consider this your content warning ).
Hi Gaina, I’m not sure about getting out of bed, but anything by Neil Diamond, especially his earlier songs, and Bon Jovi (phew) does the trick for me. Apologies to my neighbours who can probably hear the radio down the street. Johnny Nash ‘I can see clearly now’ is one that love too. What a nice thread for us to share with you. Norma
Yes I enjoy classical music as well. I’m with you on the 1812. A long time ago I heard a version of 1812 (I think it was on Classic FM) with extra sound effects as well as the cannons etc. There were sound of crowds cheering, horses galloping, and people speaking in their own languages to welcome the troop. It was really good and I tried to find a copy of it. I never have and on searches there have been no mentions of it. It must have been a one-off recorded by someone! I also love the Grand March from Aida, The Lark Ascending, Carmina Burana. My dad had The Pearl Fishers played at his funeral. Funny thing also, I too like summer of 69, but then I am a baby boomer. Great minds eh? Norma
I don’t listen to music until later in the day, but I can think of a couple of goodies off the top of my head.
Mr Blue Sky (ELO)
One Day Like This (Elbow)
No, didn’t know about it. I keep trying to watch Guy Garvey From the Vaults, but hubby is not a music fan, so we have to watch the ‘crash and bash’ programmes!!! N
Oh you have some lovely classical music there. I had forgotten about the Grand March from Aida – love that one. I’m going to hunt it out again now.
I went to the Royal Albert Hall for a classical spectacular where they played the 1812 overture and they had all the guns, cannons etc. It was amazing. If you have never done it it is something I would recommend. I would love to go again – trying to work out if my mobility and sensory overload would just make it a step too far right now. But definitely on my list for when things have improved.
