VAT exemption

hi could someone advise me how to or if I need a VAT exemption certificate for disability equipment etc

The seller should sort it out. They may ask for proof - Blue Badge, PIP award letter-. It has to be something that has been designed solely for the use of disabled people like a wheelchair. So you cannot apply because you need your kitchen redesigned.

thanks Jan,oh I was hoping for a new kitchen.

As @Janetb has said when you purchase an item you sort it at that point. If you buy online there’s usually a box you tick & then you say what your condition is.

I have never been asked for proof but I believe the HMRC do checks in the background.

ok thanks I have purchased online using the box. wasn’t sure about actual shops

Pretty much the same. I think when I bought my mobility scooter I just signed something to come my disability. It makes a big difference to the price not having to pay the VAT. Helps a lot.

thanks for your reply
