The Milestone

Hello wonderful people,

Saturday, 12th Oct. 2024. This is the day I walked a mile… somehow ! When we arrived, it was in the back of my mind that this might be a day to attempt the impossible. Several dog-walkers and passers-by stopped us during the mile walk, for a little chat and a word of encouragement, and we stopped a few minutes at the half way point to eat an apple. We had a good look at our surroundings so I could measure distance covered on Google Earth, once back at home. It was a great sense of achievement and could only have been achieved on nice flat, damp sand, my favourite surface for walking on. Today I’m grounded with the nerve in my foot all haywire (every 3 days). So walking a mile is not something I can do every day !

Take care, all, Roland

Hi. That’s amazing well done. Don’t think I will ever manage a mile or even half a mile

Never say never, Apple

My last record was 1.0 km and 1.1 km back in January. Then I spent most of the Summer at around 0.75 km once or twice a week. Then I jumped a gate, then, out of the blue, I got my milestone 1 mile badge !!

How far can you walk, at the moment ? I’m sure you can manage your own program of goals, and report your successes here ? I’m sure that would be good for you and the readers…

Good luck, ciao, Roland

@pando Hi Roland, a great achievement and earlier than hoped too making it even better. I’m sure the frequency of your mile walks will increase over time. You’re making great progress well done. I know you work really hard at it so it’s great to see the rewards that come as a result. Gives encouragement to keep you motivated & I have no doubt it inspires others too.

Enjoy your day.

Thank you, Ann

Yes, I also had a good ‘end-of-Summer’ run last year, until my Vitamin D levels ran out (usually Jan / Feb ). I have a way to go in my recovery journey, but I’m blessed that things / changes happen, which keep me motivated and looking into the future. The trick is to invent a system that keeps us engaged !!

Ciao, warm wishes, Roland
