Wouldn’t it be great if we could set up a meeting so we could all chat to one another live. I think it would help us all in lots of ways.
This is something that @Bobbi set up in the past. Not sure if he still does them but I am sure he will pop along & provide his input.
I am involved in this sort of thing.
I use a free program similar to Zoom also making a group on whatsapp is good available all day every day to group members to text, share pictures and so on. Using it allows folk with communication difficulties to be a part of things.
You are very welcome to a bit of help and guidance if you want.
There is room for online groups. They can be tied to a subject like Photography, Cooking, or simply be informal social meet ups.
I have one at 7.00pm this evening and will send a link. You are welcome come take look. Just click the link I send. You need to be able to share audio and video.
As I said I’m happy to take you through setting up and running something like this and yes you are right they are a very useful tool.
I’d like to encourage you to create and offer meetings like this. Will happily give advice and a hand to start up. No pressure just enjoy the experience.
I would be interested in this. What is the programme Bobbi? It is some time since I had my stroke but it still impacts me.
Just wanted to wish everyone who was in the room tonight. All the best and thanks for having me. And I certainly will look at trialing a weekly room.
For people who live in the East or Norfolk and Waveney I am on two Stroke Association stroke survivor zoom groups. They meet monthly in the day to influence the work of the Stroke Association. I expect there are groups in other parts of the country.
I would have thought with the internut, it doesn’t matter which part of the country or indeed the world you are located - as long as you have a digital device and are granted access by the host?
Unless the East or Norfolk and Waveney meets are about something specific to those locations?
I am no expert and I don’t believe I have attended any zoom meetings but this is my understanding of these tools.

I do volunteer my opinion to the Stroke Association. There quite a few things you can do as a volunteer. There is more information on the Stroke Association website. I suggest trying a search on the site using the key word ‘volunteer’.
@jenny-wren
The one that I do is a small informal social group.
ManjiB The groups I am in are for people in the east or Norfolk and Waveney specifically.
I’m not sue how I came to be on them. Bobbie will know.
For those interested in a meeting group.
I am thinking of putting together an online space, where we can meet up, socialise and get involved in group activity.
Initially I see it as something available to any who use this forum but it is early days and I’d like to keep all options open.
So I will begin by putting the idea out and seeing what comes out of it. It needn’t be too complicated or sophisticated to begin with but there are in fact many possibilities.
It will be done on a shoe string (I have no funding) be independent and open to those affected by stroke.
@Gnasher who initiated this thread has explained his interest. I think a few of us working together could get this off the ground and into a space of its own.
I have a little experience and am happy to be involved and help out. I’d like it to stay simple and be accessible. Let’s see what we can put together.
This will be our project and we can work together on it I am sure.
Watch the Forum posts there should be more news about this in the near future.

The simpler the better for me! I would like to meet people who post.
I’ve created a Whatsapp group and sent invitations to those who have shown an interest.
I’m looking forward to meeting up.
Tried to install it no luck. You don’t do zoom do you?
Not at this time. It has got very busy maybe I can help later?
It is a messaging service and is probably for a mobile phone which I don’t use. Sorry.
I just get the page for sending a message to the chat group. Sorry to be so hopeless!
Have you used Whatsapp before? Please don’t apologise.
No I haven’t. i have a mobile number and got as far as signing in but my mobile number kept being invalid.
I’m not sure but we will get there eventually.
Maybe this link will help?
If it doesn’t I’m still here and will do what I can.
I am getting out my mobile phone and asking my husband to download the instructions.!
