Spring sunshine and walking

I’m not walking as before the stroke but to celebrate the day and some spring weather I walked to the end of my road and back home plus a totter around the garden centre centre to pick some strawberry plants compost and a pot

How are the creaks, groans and twinges these days ?

Hi Roland post stroke pain in the cleft side is still holding me back. I try to ignore it but the AFO makes it difficult, into my hydrotherapy session in early April and strengthening my left leg As we kno not easy but determination is key to me doing anything interspersed with support from my scooter and electric wheelchair.

Hopefully you are well and going from strength to strength.

I’d say that’s a good days work Mark. I love a totter around a garden centre.

Well done.

I’ve not had my electric scooter out yet this year.

I keep looking out on sunny days and thinking I need to get going.

Last year I started getting out in February. I dressed for the cold with gloves and woolly hat. I got photos of snow drops and enjoyed myself exploring.

Been a bit of a wimp this year but really must shake up and get going. The year will be gone.

You can’t beat a regular crop of home grown strawberries. With a blob of ice cream they will be delicious. Very nice.

Thanks Bobbi im relishing that thought

I try to get out every day especially when dry with my scooter on our dog walks. The driving of it is rehab for my brain in spacial awareness and speed moving objects and gives me a clear indication that I’m improving against the position I was in when failing my driving assessment. Hopefully a better driving position is signs the brain is more stable in that area.

Hi Mark, well done you . Nothing like a lovely sunny day to put a spring in your step. :sun: :sun:. I love a potter around a garden centre :cherry_blossom: Enjoy your strawberries :strawberry: when they arrive.

@mrfrederickson , ooh, very nice. Mum and I used to grow strawberries many years ago. Trouble was, as they were growing, they get pinched.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you Mark.

As you say the more you get used to being out and about the sooner it will be that you’ll be able to drive again.

Don’t get discouraged. It is worth making the effort. These changes are small and happen slowly but they are real.

On my scooter controls there are two images.
The tortoise for slow and the hare for faster.

Remember, the tortoise won the race.
The over confident hare had too many rest breaks and lost.

:motor_scooter:  :+1:

@Bobbi , at least the hare button will speed things up. My only gripe with them is some people run over my foot. That happened several weeks ago. Not nice.

@JohnnyBoy81 made a good point, beware thieves.

I used to cover my strawberry patch with netting to keep off the marauding birds.

@Bobbi , @mrfrederickson , sound advice. It wasn’t the birds that bothered me, it was some of the little kids in the neighbourhood who “helped themselves”. Bunch of eejits.

There’s nothing to beat the taste of a freshly picked strawberry.

You can’t blame birds or kids for trying, just need to be a little canny and think ahead.

Thanks IreneFC

I am still waiting until the warmer temperatures are back to really enjoy the outside trips by scooter and the ground being less muddy

Great picture and I have similar on mine will grab a pic next time out.

I always know I’ve been using my grey matter when driving’s I start to yawn and need a nap.

Todays outing had me in the middle of the road so not a Great Leap Forward for me but gradually it will improve and then I’ll fly!

I wish I had scooter-cam a version of dash-cam for a scooter perhaps then I could record my trips.

Maybe I can find a way to do that. It would be fun.

If anyone can Bobbi - it’s you
Already looking forward to it.

@Bobbi , probably where I went wrong. I’ve only got a small balcony. Growing things in pots would be difficult for me.
