Sometimes when I am looking for inspiration and at other times when I might be feeling sorry for myself, I am often reminded of people I have seen or read about who overcame extremely difficult conditions and circumstances to achieve what I can only admire and maybe aspire to.
When I look at my Mum sitting in her wheelchair or riser recliner, I see a Stephen Hawking or a Christy Brown or any number of people who overcame the difficulties they faced. I have no idea how exactly they did it, but I know they did it and this gives me hope that if they can do it, I too can do it and in this case the “I” is my Mum.
I first came across Christy Brown when I saw the film “My Left Foot” (1989) which starred Daniel Day Lewis (another very interesting person) and I am often reminded of him.
I hope this may also help inspire you towards setting and going for achievable goals.
Finally, I will include a brilliant quote, this time from another artist Tracey Emin:
“When people say no to you, you don’t listen. You do what you have to do …”
My ultimate message for you from this post is that my mother is a stroke survivor and she is doing what Christy Brown did and what Stephen Hawking did - she is inspiring me with her desire to not be beaten by the stroke and to live life as best as she can.
