Photography - both a diversion and a direction

It is 5 am once more.

Coping with disability can be an uphill battle.

Difficulty communicating, dealing with discomfort, grieving over the loss of key abilities, facing up to being misunderstood, tackling fear, they are all there on a list that stretches away towards infinity.

In my little world I find strategies to sidestep these issues. I attempt to face up to things by not taking them head on. Many of these problems are insurmountable and enough to wear you down if you let them.

I used to love my photography, pre-stroke, but that has become one more thing I have had to unwillingly drop.

A recently purchased smart phone has opened the door for me, or should that be window? I struggle to operate its manual controls but a friend at a Stroke Group demonstrated how to use voice control and now I am once again able to produce images.

The possibilities are enormous. Images can help create records of things, places and people, those important to you, that amuse, please or interest you. They can help demonstrate something that it would take a thousand words to cover.

Plus it is a pleasure to share your experience and what you have learned.

. . . and so much more.

Go take some photos and show them off here.

Remember, an image is an image, there is no better or worse - and no need for competition.

The prize is sharing.

Thanks for giving me a space to meet and commune with my friends.
Stroke can be such a lonely place.
This Forum is an oasis in a dry and dangerous desert.
Please keep it that way.

Having stroke is truly dreadful, but I don’t think it should be ‘tidied up’ and ‘made pretty’ so we can all pretend it is okay.

I’ll raise your pain with the exec director when I talk to him this afternoon because many of us feel similar in our own ways.

I’ve pdf’d it

Your skills would be welcomed at https://bit.ly/StrokeCommunity

It needs entirely setting up
