Need advice

My swelling has settled down now but my foot still swells.
I still have to put heel cushions in at left side on this one but my heel has no pain after I’ve been walking

I’m trying different ideas of where to put the heel cushions and 1 or 2 .
Went for a walk today and when I got outside I bent over to loosen top strap of my splint as heel was hurting.
When I stood up again I felt like I had trapped a nerve in my groin.
I thought it would sort itself out with me walked but after I got back from the walk it was still hurting so had to sit down

I do things like that from time to time and usually, the best to do is rest and relax a while to it time to recover. It’s just the muscle tension that needs relaxing.

Check out some hip flexion and stretching exercises, its what everyone could do with if they’re sitting a lot, bet it for work or health conditions.

Lorraine

I had no where to sit so just had to keep going.
Hope your having a nice day outside like I am.

Oh I understand that, had similar myself today. Sat a litlle to long in the car and wound up limping arounds the shops. So I’m going to have to a little massage on my hip tonight and some heat…as if I need any more of that today

These things are here to try us :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Lorraine

Yes and usually me .
Everything happens on my right side.

That’s because its your weak side, as is mine  The way I see it, if the brain can’t send a signal to a certain body part then everything else has to pick up the slack, carry a dead weight, leaving you more susceptible to sprains and strains.

Lorraine

Thanks Lorraine for letting me know with your endless knowledge.
I take Baclofen at night for spasms.
I forgot last night and can tell.
I was in a right state this morning foot spasm and hand shaking at the same time.
I still did my exercises though.
Couldn’t stop foot turning so decided to stay in.

Hi Lorraine just talked to doctors
Splint for hand and foot getting referred for and Baclofen in morning now as well as night

That’s is good news. Do you find the Baclofen helps and will it help to reduce the spasms after exercise. Hopefully the Baclofen won’t be for life as the spasm reduce as you progress and get stronger in your recovery.

Lorraine

I’m having it in the morning along with my other tablets when I get the next prescription with the extra in.
It was the idea of the botox nurse.

Just thought this might interest or enlighten you a little, if you haven’t already read it elsewhere :slightly_smiling_face:

Seen a video about this from a American occupational therapist I follow.
Doctor yesterday said if I don’t hear from physio team in 1 or 2 weeks to contact her again.
Looks like my physio was more bothered about getting rid of me than contacting anyone else

You know what Lorraine I have just got a knee support for my good knee as it’s been really painful and just put it on and it’s eased the pain alot.
Am only going to wear it in daytime.
Also I have a stretch band attached to my bed grab rail that I hook over my fingers and pull with my bad arm.
I was told it strengthens my arm and I do 20 pulls morning and night and it’s working.
When I lean on my bad arm when I’m sat in chair it stays instead of sliding over the arm now

That’s great news about your arm, that’s good progress and proves all your hard work is paying off :partying_face::clap::clap::clap: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Do you have any stretch band hooked to say a chair leg for some push/pull type exercises?

Lorraine

No others band.

I got this yesterday to help my knee and it’s really helping.
Only wear it during the day.
The squats are helping my but get chunky so I’m happy.
Did I tell you what doctor said on Monday?

Yes you did tell me what the doctor said, I take it you’ve not heard anything from physio yet?

Unfortunately that’s the way it goes with stroke recovery, you make some progress then all stops while the brain processes and stores what its learnt, then is back to progression again :face_with_diagonal_mouth: Well, that’s basically it in a nutshell

Could you ask your dad to get you Voltarol at the chemist/supermarket perhaps ?
