I’m doing ok thanks. I have real difficulties walking & recently bought a mobility scooter to help me be more independent. My foot turns inwards too. I also have a condition called Functional Neurological Disorder which I think is causing my inward turning foot & foot drop. I have an orthotic but don’t use it so much now as it was making my ankle very stiff.
You are doing well with your walking by the seems of it. Keep going you are doing well.
I am doing 20 squats in bathroom holding onto grab rail day and night, standing on 1 leg holding back of chair and counting to 20 then again and leaning forwards and putting hand on wall to stretch back of my foot and toe’s the same.
Way I feel at the moment I might as well focus on what will work instead of what won’t.
My physio stopped coming last week and I really feel like he couldn’t get rid of me fast enough.
He didn’t do any stretching in March so as of now my wrist goes straight when my fingers are closed but when they are straight it bends so it looks like a l shape.
I have foot drop too.
I have saved some videos on YouTube but with some of them I can’t do exercises alone.
According to my physio the only thing I need to stop foot drop, foot turning and toes curling is the foot splint nothing else.
I have put heal cushions at the edge to stop the rubbing.
I think it would be a good idea to get another foot splint done what do you think Anne?
Sorry for moaning
I was thinking Lorraine would it be a good idea to arrange a new foot splint as this seems tight.
When I had it made my foot wasn’t swollen compared to when I collected it and now so I think a new one might not hurt as much what do you think?
Well it certainly can’t hurt to try getting a new one. You do whatever it takes to get yourself walking again and the current is preventing from doing that. Its hold back progress.
Going to call doctor to refer me for 1 tomorrow.
Plus I have to contact universal credit to transfer to that which I’m stressing about too because I don’t know if they will take my stroke into consideration when deciding what I get payment wise.
Today I went walking and actually managed to go down and up the ramp at the end of the pavement twice.
Hope your ok Lorraine you’re a godsend to me just so you know
If you’re splint is too tight you need to go back to them. They can either loosen it ir give you one that fits better. Whilst it’ll never be completely comfortable it shouldn’t be causing you pain.l or sores.
Thanks for giving the app a go! Yeah, unfortunately you won’t always find us by just searching for our name in the DiscourseHub app. The best way is to add us using the full web address: https://onlinecommunity.stroke.org.uk just like in the screenshot below. Once you enter the full link, the community should pop up and you can add it from there by clicking the blue plus button next to it.
Th new toe separators are not as good as the foam ones my toes don’t all fit in and my toes curl worse than in the foam ones
Hope your ok Lorraine.
John
I’m doing just fine, been doing a declutter in preparation for having a new kitchen fitted later in the summer. So I’m dodging in and out of here when I can
I have my fingers crossed that you can get a new splint fitted and that it’s more successful than the other one
When I this 1 made my foot wasn’t as swollen as it was when I collected it that was the problem.
It was when I was in rehab and in bed most of the time.
The new one should fit better.
