Need advice

Then maybe you need to scroll down the screen a little further.

At a guess you’re not using a mobile.
Try going here on a mobile then you will be able to see what I see

I’m currently using both computer and mobile in order to help you.

I think you may have your site version set to computer mode.
If you click on the hamburger symbol

and scroll to the bottom of that screen until you see a little mobile symbol something like this :mobile_phone: Tap on that and it will switch you mobile mode

This is at the bottom

Just give me a minute while I repeatedly bang my head on the desk    :head_shaking_vertically:

Ok, I’m back now.

In order to create a New Topic (post), you must first leave this “Need advice” post.
To do that, you must click on the Stroke Association logo on the left of the purple banner there (some people will just see a capital S when they are within a post). This takes you to the community home page.

Let me know what you see when you’ve done that.

:rofl::rofl::joy::joy:

Found how to create a post thanks love I could kiss you.
Gonna watch a film now.
I find it easier talking to ladies because I was brought up by the female side of my family.
My parents needed L plates big ones.

Lorraine

According to my physio to stop my toes curling and foot turning i just need to use my splint which I hate using.

By the way I am not getting any emails when you reply?

Then take that slopped insole to a cobblers/shoe repair shop and see is they can make one up to your size. Then you have the best of both worlds. You can wear the insole at the times you are not able to wear the splint.

For your leg swelling you could elevate your foot above your heart, apply ice or cold packs for 20 minutes every few hours.

Nobody actually likes wearing splints any more than plaster casts or orthotic boots for broken legs. You’re not alone there! They make you hot, they make you itchy, they can give a rash, they rub you raw, been there, done that, burnt the t-shirt. But they are a necessary evil, until such time someone out there can come up with a design more suitable, comfortable, trouble free alternative.

I honestly don’t know why you’d not be getting any emailed notifications of my replies. I never use them myself so turned them off in my settings. The drop down list of notifications under my avatar is all the notification I need. Again, maybe @Anna_Moderator can help with that tomorrow.

Lorraine

If you want to get email notifications when someone replies to your posts or mentions you click on your profile picture at top right of the page (i’m on the app on mobile phone it may be somewhere else on a different device or if on web browser).

Then select person image

Then select preferences

Then select emails (you may need to scroll across a bit)

Then check settings & amend as you want to.

Hope that helps.

Hi Lorraine when it comes to the insoles there isn’t a timpsons close and my dad won’t want to go to 1 to start with.
He tries to do very little anyway.
I have found out that I am getting emails from you and anyone.
Today I went for a walk and finally went down and up the slope twice.

Hi @nerrad67,

Thank you for all your posts, I can see you’ve put a lot of effort into sharing your experience, and I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had such a frustrating time using the site. We know it’s not always intuitive, and I completely understand how that can feel when you just want to connect with others or find the right information quickly.

If you haven’t already, you might want to try using the DiscourseHub app on your mobile, it’s available on iOS and Android and can sometimes make navigation and posting a bit smoother. Here is a short how-to guide on how to install it.

You can also check out our Web portal for many more “how-to” guides on things like starting a new discussion or replying to threads. If something’s not working as it should, or you’d like direct help, you’re always welcome to submit a request to our Service Desk and we’ll do our best to help sort it out.

And if you have feedback about the forum experience, please do fill out our feedback form, we really do want to make things easier for everyone using the community.

My colleague Anna will also be around tomorrow if you have any questions, just type the @ symbol followed by her username in your message, like this → @Anna_Moderator, and she’ll be notified.

Thanks again for bearing with us, and I hope it starts to feel a bit easier soon.

Best,
Alex

It looks like I am getting everyone’s email messages so it’s all gone.
How long have you had recovery?

Hi Lorraine thanks for the advice.
While I was walking today I felt my foot trying to turn sideways.

Hello John - I am sorry if I misunderstood what you are looking for which as you say is someone at the same stage of their stroke as you and it’s true that Lorraine is a lot further down the stroke recovery than you.

I understand now and I am sure there will be some other members of this community who will be at the same stage of stroke as you and who will be better able to relate to you.

I am sure you will get the help, guidance and support you seek and wish you all the best on your road to recovery from the stroke.

Okay hope your getting there.
Today I went for a walk in my foot splint and it took me 20 minutes there and 22 back.
On the way back I felt my foot trying to turn.
I have ordered a wedge to try to stop it turning from amazon.
When I took it off it did turn sideways.
