It’s about trying to get some good blood circulation back into your legs. The blood thinners are just part of the solution but they’ll never be enough alone.
Drink plenty of fluids each and every day, particularly water; avoid alcohol.
Don’t sit stationary for longer an hour without getting up and walking around.
Elevate the leg above the level of the heart periodically throughout the day.
Massage will also help, a hand held electric massager would help to loosen up tight muscles thus improving circulation.
This hip stretch I posted earlier will probably be beneficial to you for both for the stretch as well as reducing the swelling in your leg and aiding circulation in it too.
