Morning goals

Every evening I set myself some goals for the following day and last night set myself two jobs

  1. Clean alloy wheels and
    1. Polish out minor scratches from women’s handbags and supermarket trollley rash.

Both successful in their completion

I looked stupid pushing myself around in my manual wheelchair but got it done

Reflecting on the past I remembered an old crime drama starring Raymond abuse

A wheelchair bound lawyer

It was called ed A man called itonsi

happier days who would have thought then what would happen to me.

Well done on achieving your daily goals. It’s a great thing to set goals and even better when you achieve them.

And no you don’t look stupid pushing yourself around in your wheelchair. Anyone that happened to notice as they passed by would think you were great for doing the work despite having to use a wheelchair.

I rather think Chief Ironside would have been proud to witness this

I remember Ironside - one of my favourite TV programs.

If I remember rightly, Ironside was played by the brilliant Raymond Burr.
Ironside was a veteran police officer and Chief of Detectives for the San Francisco Police Department. After being paralyzed by an assassin’s bullet, he continued to work with the police as a special civilian consultant and this is where the wheelchair comes in.

The theme tune to the program was by the equally brilliant Quincy Jones who later went on to produce Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad albums. Not bad!

Here is the theme tune.

Raymond Burr did indeed play a lawyer (Perry Mason) and also was in the Hitchcock film Rear Window starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly.

Wow Mark - thank you so much for the twip down the Memory Lane (no relation to Pinny Lane).

Thanks Ann

I was determined and still have polishing the paint work tomorrow morning after breakfast

That’s great news that you’ve managed to get to work on your car. Tonight I’m going to set myself a goal (2 might be pushing it ), like you. What a great inspirational idea. I do say I still want to walk to our Spar and back on my stick without the pain or need to stop, as my goal, but setting one for tomorrow is a good push and motivating idea. Thank you Mr Frederickson !! I’ll probably have to do some housework so that will be my goal for tomorrow morning. Sometimes its too easy to sit and wish things were easier to do now, but that’s the hand I’ve been dealt so with a steady push from you, tomorrow is housework day (or a little bit at least) :joy:. I wish you well and am sure you’ll get your car sparkling :sparkles:

The programs used to have different storylines but the same thing used to happen at the end of them when an Idea used to strike him and he would glow with pleasure, then it was too late for the baddie because he would be unmasked!

Thanks Sue, I need it out of the garage next to get access to the drivers side and boot and all four wheels to complete the job before the weekend rain

Yes you are right like the Rockford files,

Petrochemical

And many other American 70’s and 80’s series

Great to reminisce about them and my childhood, happy memories.

I’m sure that will done eventually :slightly_smiling_face:. I have made a slow start on the housework this morning, maybe tomorrow’s goal will be to finish one room !!. Take care and I think you’re doing great

Well today’s goals were more about enjoyment and chilling than jobs

Although after a coffee in the park I attended the refuse centre and used my good side to lift in and out a large sack of garden clippings from our evergreen s.shrubs

My good side is very strong and means we don’t have to disturb our sleeping son who will be drafted in to do more hedges this afternoon

Great effort you will complete it tomorrow

I always say I’m not incapable of just slow so anything is possible

:joy::joy:

You’ve made a start & that’s great. When I first started housework again after my stroke i just did a little bit each day & by the end of the week I had hopefully done 1 room.

I now do all of it

Thank you, Mark (If I may be so bold). I’m happy to having at least tried. Just sometimes I need that boot to get me going. Today has been a good day, but tomorrow will probably be pay day!! Oh well, it’s a start . Take care and I’m sure your garden will be all trimmed and neat soon. Sue

Yes Ann quite a bit done but most importantly I provided strength in lifting big sacks into the car with my wife like my pre stroke self and did not need my strong son to help more independent living I guess.

Every bit you do is definitely another step towards being more independent & that is what we are all craving.

Yes Ann absolutely and I went to the tip a second time this week and assisted in tlifting the bigarden waste sacks ov the edge and into the waste skip. A man did offer us some assistance but my wife thanked him and let me grab as low down as possible and then stand up lifting which got the bagonthlip so that the contents could be removed from it and the bag stored back in the car.

In my heyday I’d have loaded driven and unloaded the lot in twenty minutes now considerably longer.

But you did it. Doesn’t matter how long it took. Well done.
