Sorry to be a grouch Ann but is still remember the old me and being suddenly aged over night to 88 still doesn’t feel right.
Agree completely but we have to remember that things are different now. I look back too but then remind myself that it is good to be alive and living a life albeit different to the one I had planned.
When I look back I see the complete destruction of everything I had worked for and enjoyed and it makes me it clear my life has been a complete waste of of time and pointless and now not enough time to recover significantly to re engage with the this that give me joy!
Noooooooooo. Your life has absolutely not been a complete waste of time at all. Everything you did before was of great value & So is everything you do now. I am sure your wife, kids & grandkids think that too.
I’m not sure that matters it’s what sits in my head and regrets are huge
If I had died that day in 2022 I’d have felt nothing more and closed that door permanently but without regrets
It’s a shame you feel that way as you are more than your stroke. I have seen, through your posts on here, how much progress you have made particularly during the last 6 months or so. Life after stroke is different but not all bad. I know there are some elements of my pre-stroke life that I don’t mind. Others I miss a lot. But I try not to dwell on it as I can’t change what happened but I can influence how I move forward.
And, I don’t know your wife, family & friends, but each & every one of them are very glad you didn’t die that day. As am I else I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to converse with you on here & learn from some of the posts you have made.
Sorry Ann I’m a grumpy old guy and am never satisfied
While I get some of my old life back but true independence still eludes me and that hurts more than anything
Always the passenger never the driver and that more than the pain the missing intimacy and the diabetes. All will mobs forward in some form of conclusion premature fey and the retirement that is no where near the end I had planned.
Loss of independence is one of the hardest things for us all. But we are all slowly regaining some of it ans that will hopefully continue. It isn’t done yet…there’s more to come.
Th problem bank i a while im doing so much more the confidence and skill i s bordering on disaster every time reminded me of a Marx brothers story it’s comical
The tail I recounted on n here belying the fraud I feel I am , not much better than stroke day one and so far from my pre stroke self it hardly matters anymore
