Hello, I wanted to share an update on Gary’s recovery journey. It’s been 13 months since the stroke and he’s been home for 2.5 months.
Doing amazingly well and today he took his first steps with a quad stick! He still has extreme weakness in his left side, as well as left side neglect. However, considering what we were told in the early months post-stroke about the severity of his brain injury he’s doing amazingly well,
Life as a carer has been challenging. I’ve felt sad, exhausted and frustrated but I’m following everyone s advice and looking after myself as much as possible. We’re enjoying the simple things in life like a coffee together by our new pond - created especially for Gary’s return home by our friends.
So grateful for the support I got from you in the early weeks xxxxx
Great to hear this update @Lara1. It’s wonderful that Gary is doing so well and I’m pleased you’re getting to enjoy the simple things in life. It’s also great to hear that you’re looking after yourself too. Please keep us updated on Gary’s progress
