Getting small scooter into car boot

Stowing a scooter in my car boot

My mobility is restricted. To help with this I have a small scooter. However I was not able to lift it in or out of my car without help.
Fortunately I have found a way to do this without needing a hoist or an assistant.

In town I park up and can get the scooter out of the boot single handed. I am very pleased that it is now manageable. I can also get it back into the boot with no difficulty.

I position an off-cut of carpet to protect the car’s paint work.

By resting the scooter against the car then pivoting it up and pushing it in I avoid needing to lift the whole weight. The car takes half the weight during the lift. It is quite easy and quick, no need for a hoist or help, and it works.

My scooter is the Minimus, it weighs 17 kg. There are similar ones with different names from a variety of suppliers.
I have been successfully lifting it in and out of a Corsa electric.

The old guy, (me) with a cheery wave, revs his engine
and prepares once again to burn rubber.

It makes me smile every time I read of your scooter exploits. It’s great that you can manage to get your scooter in & out of your car independently. Another level of independence gained.

Here’s to many more adventures.
