All rehab exercise doesn’t have to regimental.
It doesn’t have to be staid and boring either.
Variety is the spice of life. Routines can be broken and they can be replaced.
We all know that laughter is the best medicine.
Some times you can ‘have your cake and eat it’!
So I’ve picked out a selection of videos of simple fun activities for the elderly/immobile I’ve seen online. They’re all both physically and mentally stimulating and beneficial without it having to feel like a drudge. Some can easily be adapted to an individuals needs/ability.
The carers as well as the stroke survivors need regular breaks and a laugh. Who to say we can’t have fun with our strokes. We only get one life and us stroke survivors have been given a second chance at that life!
The reason I put them was because I’d seen a few of them on tiktok and immediately thought about the carers less mobile/bedridden stroke survivors on here.
As a carer, you can get so bogged down in the day to day routine and have a lot of spinning plates in your head to juggle. You don’t always have time to think, you just do, and you keep on doing until something breaks that cycle.
The key is to not let it become a drudgery, fun and laughter can still be found
And I’ve actually enjoyed a few of the myself at family sports days
Too right the more fun it is the more likely people will stick with it. Variety is important too. I often get fed up doing the same exercises all the time so will look for other ways to achieve the same aim.
