I am steadily working, as best as I am able, to move stroke away from the centre of my being.
I feel it would be nice to put it on a shelf over there and get on with the more important, interesting, amusing, beautiful things that life has to offer.

Inside my head,
something said,

“Who cares? don’t cry!”
"We will get by.
“We’ve not had enough,
we can still do stuff.”

I’ll write me a clever ode
as I sit on my commode.

Laugh at the rain,
smile at my brain.

Always say “Hi”
never ask why.

Are you still here ?
“Of course, no fear.”

Just makin’ lemonade from these lemons . . .

extracted from my Blog

now it’s your turn . . .

No a poem but a song I wroye with my music therapost at the rehab hospital I was at;

[Verse 1] She’s floatin’ on a breeze, so sweet, Over golden sands where the waves meet, Little feet don’t touch the ground, Just a whisper of air, no sound, With a smile that lights up the sky, ………………………….
[Pre-Chorus] Oh, she’s got dreams that won’t come down, Runnin’ wild, she’s the queen of this town, She don’t need no wings, just a heart so free, And the world’s a stage for her fantasy…
[Chorus] Fly, baby, fly, with your colors so bright, In the wind, in the sun, feelin’ light, Holdin’ those balloons, don’t let 'em go, [Blank space] …………………………….. Your spirit’s free, your heart’s on fire, Girl, you’re reaching higher and higher…
[Verse 2] She’s got a world of wonder in her eyes, Chasing rainbows that kiss the skies, Every balloon is a story untold, In the breeze, she’s fearless and bold, A laugh that echoes across the shore, [Blank Space] ………………………..
[Pre-Chorus] She don’t look back, she don’t slow down, Her feet don’t touch the ground, She’s a melody in the ocean’s song, And in her heart, she knows she belongs…

[Chorus] Fly, baby, fly, with your colors so bright, In the wind, in the sun, feelin’ light, Holdin’ those balloons, don’t let ‘em go, [Blank space] …………………………… Your spirit’s free, your heart’s on fire, Girl, you’re reaching higher and higher…
[Bridge] The ocean whispers her name, As the sunset sets her heart aflame, [Blank space] …………………………… She dances on clouds, she knows no shame…
[Chorus] Fly, baby, fly, with your colors so bright, In the wind, in the sun, feelin’ light, Holdin’ those balloons, don’t let 'em go, [Blank space] …………………………… Your spirit’s free, your heart’s on fire, Girl, you’re reaching higher and higher…
[Outro] Fly, little one, fly… Through the heavens, so high… Don’t ever let go of those dreams, You’re the queen of your balloon dreams…

Great poem @Bobbi

And enjoyed the song @Mich-mm seems there are some talented people in this little community. I’m not feeling very creative today so here is a pic of me doing a little rehab in the pool on a recent holiday.

I look forward to more interesting stuff in the Stroke Zine

It would be great to hear from you when you’re feeling more creative. I love your rehab in the pool. How did you manage to get the pool almost to yourself? Why not tell us about on your holiday? It looks very tropical. Best wishes Norma

When I was about twelve, I wanted to be a cartoonist. I even sent a cartoon to the local newspaper but they didn’t accept it, they did write a lovey letter of encouragement though. So, in the spirit of that, thirty-seven years later, I will submit a cartoon to the zine.

Very good Bobbi - but I would definitely like more.

So tell me a bit about you as a Taurean vs you as an Aquarian

Taurus – Passive, co-operative, creative, harmonious, beautiful, affectionate, moderate, indulgent, resistant, and sociable.
Aquarius – Individual, original, eccentric, extreme, defiant, experimental, erratic, disruptive, innovative, and independent.

Perhaps @HHilary can chip in?

Nice cartoon Rupert
Which star sign drew this then (the born or the stroke?)

My Chinese horoscope sign is Dragon but I had a stroke in the year of the Rat which is converse to the belief that Dragons benefit in the Year of the Rat.

I believe I had a stroke in the month of Virgo, and I am a Taurus by birth month. According to Western horoscope.

Ah, yes, the Chinese horoscope, now let me see, I think I am a OX.

I do think there is something to be said for these star signs - I mean Gemini being split personalities and things like that. Now of course, with the world population being what it is and the signs/years being as small as they are there will always be a difficulty in getting everyone to be “correctly” placed but in the main?

Not that I follow it religiously but sometimes I do wonder

@Norma751 @Mich-mm So, in answer to your questions.

I think the pool was so empty because I always went in earlyish in a morning. Most people were probably still eating breakfast or were still half asleep😊 I used to like that time as no one got in my way when I did my wonky swimming. It’s also the time of day when I have the most energy. Later in the day the pool got packed. It was the warmest swimming pool I had ever been in and was just like getting in a warm bath. As I am no longer able to get into a bath it felt lovely to feel like I was in a bath. I miss my baths.

What I like about the pool too is that it is the one time I can actually get my foot lifted off the floor. I can’t tell you how good that feels after 3 years of it being permanently stuck to the floor.

The holiday was to Fuerteventura. My stepdaughter recommended the hotel after she had visited the resort at Christmas. She thought it would be ideal for my mobility needs and in the main it was. The resort was small and flat and the hotel we stayed at was right next to the beach. Although the sea was further out than it looked. We only managed to walk down to the sea once as it was a bit of a trek for me. We could see it all day though so I didn’t mind. It was a relaxing holiday where we did very little but hubby and I both needed a rest so was ideal. We found some lovely places to eat all close by the hotel and gorged on lots of cake and ice cream. Yum yum. I also enjoyed the Canarian Potatoes and probably ate too many of them but they were delicious and I was on holiday so who cares

@Bobbi So I too am a Taurean (seems to beca popular star sign on here) but am a Saggitarian strokee.

Do I believe probably not but that doesn’t stop me reading the occasional horroscope.

I believe I am the Chinese year of the rat & stroke waz year of the Ox. No idea if thatbis good, bad or indifferent

Loving the cartoon - it definitely made me smile. A bit like someone looking for their glasses when they’re already wearing them.

Cartoon accepted !!

LOL I like it,

to quote @ManjiB

Thanks to all who submitted an entry to the poll,
also thanks to those who responded with material and discussion.

It’s great to hear that there are other Taureans in the neighbourhood !!
Bull in a china shop? – just put the crockery on a high shelf – it’ll be okay.

I also swing wildly between scepticism and being drawn towards something mysterious and unfathomable.

Must admit I’m also drawn to my stroke sign.

In the Chinese system Oink, Oink, I’m the pig, noble, considerate, and lucky. Happy as Larry about that.

I hope this Zine will entertain, amuse and give you something to think about. Keep coming back to read and to write.

Well, my birth month is Leo but my stroke was late October so I guess I’m now Scorpio. I’m resourceful because I drove to a car park to catch a bus! And I must be emotional, mysterious and passionate after my encounter with the young gentleman on the bus home! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Best wishes Norma

Just For Fun Poetry

There was a little piglet
Who had a little wiglet,
And he wore it on the top of his head.
It was a very little wig,
'Cause he wasn’t very big,
And he took it off before he went to bed. :person_in_bed:
