Feeling of unwell

Hi all, hope everyone is ok.
a general question please. after my stroke last April I recovered fairly quickly although I have general balance problems and peripheral vision loss. My question is does anyone get the occasional feeling of been unwell for a few minutes i.e… shaky sweaty and a general feeling of faintness. It happens to me a couple of times a week and passes after a few minutes. I’m seeing my Doctor next week for a general review and a phone call from hospital consultant the week after so hope I get some answers then but if anyone can shed some light from their experiences I’d appreciate it.
Take care.

hi

Have you taken your blood pressure?
You can buy a decent monitor for £40

Good luck, Roland

Hi. Yes I take it regularly. Ranges from mid 130 to mid 120’s. I purchased my own monitor a few months ago. Doctor happy with that. Cheers.

@Seeney i often feel dizzy & like i’m going to faint but I suffer a lot of dizziness & nausea. Waiting to see a specialist about this. I don’t get the shaky & sweaty bit though.

Mention it to your dr & hopefully they’ll be able to sort it for you.

Best wishes

Ann

That sounds like a digestion issue to me . . . only because I’ve experienced that myself. Make a note of what you ate prior to episode for when you see your doctor. They’ll probably want to do a blood test too to check liver/kidney function too to rule them out, because we have to take so many pills it can be hard on our innards  And they always want to know your bowel and waterworks movement so start paying attention to them

Chances are it’s what you are eating. Too much rice can bring on those symptoms for me and if meals are too big. You’d be better off going for a walk after a meal than just sitting. Or go for a lie down for half an hour so you can stretch out your torso so the food can move more freely through you system.

Mint tea is a great one for when that comes on or a couple of mint sweets, you’ll be surprised how that works, something that doesn’t require another pill

I do. I also had a stroke in April but have had had these symptoms for years and years. My neurologist suggested I had a MRI and a MRA (which also checks the arteries) It was discovered that I had abnormally narrow arteries which explained why I had my so called ‘dizzy spells’ over the years and eventually a stroke as blood going to my brain could be intermittent. The MRI shows hundreds of little pin pricks of shadows on my brain. I’m not saying that this has happened to you, my condition is hereditary. I still have my dizzy spells but much less often than before. I take a blood thinner as well as a glass of beetroot juice every day. I also lie on the floor with my legs above my head as this helps as well. try not to do that in Waitrose though, they get a bit concerned. Has your neurologist done any scans ?

Hi. I had MRI / CT scans in hospital. Only showed the clot as far as i know.
No way can I get my legs over my head. Lol. Thanks for the info. Cheers.

Hi, get this mostly after I go to bed and sometimes after breakfast. When in bed I have white noise playing on my earphones to drown out tinnitus. Strangely as I’m dropping off if I think about stroke and having another etc. I get the symptoms mentioned. I have to get up and move about to shake it off. Did have rice last night and had episode this morning.
Liver/kidney tests were fine. BP in the 130’s and lower.
Take care.

Hi@seeney, I have Hemonopia vision left half of each eye missing, I often feeling like everything is moving and the feeling that someone is trying to push me over! Sounds a bit weird I know I guess mine is balance issues from my visual field loss. It is a sense of there’s no gravity for me. The doctor said people lose there balance with visual field loss, could that be similar perhaps? Mine has got better over time but still feel it from time to time, maybe good to check with your doctor x

Hi. Thanks for that. I’ve been told eyes and ears play a big part in balance. Has your eyesight improved at all? I feel mines returned a little as i can now see movement to my far left but cannot make out what it is. Still have bind spot. I’ve now started wearing a hearing aid in left ear. Went completely deaf in it after stroke. Bad tinnitus. Told brain makes noise to compensate for hearing loss. Takes time to adjust.
Take care.

Hi @Seeney I would say when I woke up after my stroke I had about 10% of my normal vision, 3 years on I would say it’s more like 50-60% that’s great you can make things out in your blindspot, do you drive at all? My stroke was a bleed on the brain and a cartroid blocked artery.

Hi, glad to hear your vision is improving, so there’s still hope then. I’ve always been able to see but not in the affected field of vision. No not driven since April I know its not possible atm. Have been backing car out of drive so my wife can drive but almost had a couple of scrapes. you do need all of your sight to drive. lol. I don’t know what I’d like back, vision to drive or balance for day to day stuff.
Take care.

Hi@seeney the balance I feel I’m adapting too a feeling less sea sick, the vision loss takes longer to accept and adapt to for me personally, I’d love to drive and DVLA say it’s a possibility through exceptional circumstances so maybe one day, best wishes in your recovery :+1:

Will do. You say blind, completely blind?
Apparently you need all your senses to perform normally.
Take care.
