Hi @sandraplaskow just wanted to wish you luck with getting your licence back. I have copied in a few posts below re driving for info.

Driving assessment

Having now done 2 eye tests for the DVLA I am now required to do a driving assessment, has anyone else had to do this? I haven't driven for nearly 16 months and feel quite nervous about this. I think the main problem is normally before an assessment of any kind you practice but I am not able to do this, I cannot go out with a driving instructor as I have no licence at the moment. I have jumped through so many hoops for the DVLA and think this is going to be the hardest. Any advice?

Driving assessment

Just a note to say I went for a driving assessment at North East Drive Mobility at Walkergate Hospital in Newcastle today which deals with neuro rehab. I self referred there. It is free through the NHS. I was not optimistic about returning to driving mainly due to my vision ( double vision due to third nerve palsy) but also lack of confidence due to the crash which resulted in my stroke (not my fault, hit by a car that had broken a red light travelling 90-120mph in a 30 zone). Driving

At long last I've been given a date for a video call with the assessment centre 17th December then 4 weeks later I should be in Edinburgh for the driving assessment. I had a driving lesson yesterday,first time driving since April 2019 and it was great ?, driving instructor very happy with my driving and can't see any reason why I wouldn't get my licence back. Roll on January,2021 has to be better than 2020 surely?

Dvla new rules for driving with visual field loss to be introduced for 2024?

hi all , does anybody out there know of or heard about new rules coming into place in 2024 by the dvla for people with types of visual field loss my husband has right side homonymous hemianopsia following a stroke in september this year and is desperate to get back to driving ’ we would appreciate any info

Driving again

after applying for my driving licence back, which got suspended in 2021 due to my stroke sleep apnoea and visual field . the DVLA have issued me my licence back. i cried with tears as the process from application to licence back has taken 9 months. they had to write to stroke, neurology, and sleep consultants. Thankfully called car insurance to get me added to my husband’s policy, and result we got a partial refund. so happy

I am aure others will be along later with some advice too.
