Covid Jab....Yes or No?

I dare say it’s been asked before, but is it wise for a stroke victim to have the Covid jab ?..the wife had her slight stroke at the start of April, and is due to have the Covid jab, AND the 'flu jab this coming Saturday…just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on it ?..

I don’t think there is any reason why a stroke survivor can’t have the covid or flu jab. It is a very personal choice though depending on your own circumstances and views. I had my flu jab on Saturday.

I have said NO to all vaccinations ! I am sure that the COVID vaccine had something to do with my stroke ! :face_without_mouth:

I had both covid and flu jabs last Thursday. I had a mild stroke also. I have been fine since.Come to think of it ,I had both last year too, just 3-4 months after my stroke.Again absolutely no ill effects!

Hi @Del80 I had the very first Covid jab and a flu jab and was fine afterwards but definitely won’t be having any more. It’s a very personal choice and everyone’s reasons for having the jabs or not having the jabs is very different.

I’ve had several Covid & flu jabs and no ill effects (apart from known stated side effects). I think I’m happier with the extra protection.

Not sure this will help you, but as has been mentioned, attitudes to vaccinations vary and they do seem to be personal preferences based on personal experiences.

We don’t have vaccinations that are voluntary e.g. flu and COVID. Even when COVID was mandatory for travel to some countries, our attitude was we would [choose] not to travel to those countries.

In the main, the human body is very capable of defending itself, but occasionally it does need outside help and certainly since we are all different, there is no doubt many do benefit from taking the vaccination.

Finally, vaccines are a form of medication and as we all know, all medications come with side effects and so it is a matter of risk vs benefit which we can assess before making the choice.

Wishing you and your wife all the best and a safe and healthy autumn/winter

I had the Covid jab and 3 weeks later I had a stroke. I have no idea if there was any connection - my GP thought not - but I am very wary. So far I have had 8 jabs with no ill effects but Im still very uncertain about having anymore

had my booster back in February – i check my b p 3 times a week - for months up to this date around 118/72 – day before booster as normal – day after 168/85
and stayed high and erratic for 2 months or so before returning to normal
doc says no connection - i am not convinced – BIG coincidence – i will not be having any more

Hi Del 80,

I think this is always a personal choice and how comfortable we feel in having this, I have only ever had one flu jab and had a very bad reaction to this. At the height of COVID I was advised despite my job and advice to have this I called my GP for guidance and was told not to have have any so haven’t and only had one mild COVID infection. I’m not skilled or educated enough to say but if the rest of your health is or has been good possibly better to talk this over and decide what you both feel is best.

Thanks to all, for the replies…..I have asked several medical professionals the question, and all seem to think that there shouldn’t be a problem…..the Wife is going ahead with both jabs on Saturday morning……we shall see……

Doctors daren’t say anything against vaccines and especially the Covid mRNA injection which isn’t made the same as a normal vaccine and should not be called a vaccine. Any doctor saying anything slightly critical could be struck off. Those speaking out are hounded and censored. I don’t want my own natural very efficient immune system mucked up by being tricked by a vaccine.

I had my stroke the very same day I had the Moderna jab in October 2022. I have requested doctors look into the link but they refuse saying there is no proof, I personally wouldn’t trust the covid jab

Hello @Chrissy9 - welcome to the community and thank you for sharing your thoughts on the covid vaccine.

I am no expert, but knowing how the covid vaccinations were developed and approved for use, I will not be surprised by anything that comes out of any inquires that may come in the future.

I don’t wish to say anything more on this as I am sure we all have our own views on this.

This pretty much says it all IMHO.

Wishing you all the best.

I wonder how many people are aware of this.

Time will tell.

Hi @Chrissy9 & welcome to the community.
Hope you are doing ok after your stroke.

I don’t know if you are aware of the yellow card scheme but you can report medication side effects through this scheme. If your Dr’s won’t look into it then that may be another way to tackle it.

I was told by my stroke consultant that it is too early for them to know ywt & it will be many more years before they know for sure.

Not at all surprised by this - is anyone really going to own up to anything.

Only time will tell :frowning:

Just an update…..the wife had both her injections five days ago, and all seems good….as others have said it’s a personal choice, and I must say I was/am rather dubious about the Covid jab……Thanks to all who replied…..

That’s great news - peace of mind is important and you must do what works for you. Someone famously once said “Listen to all, but do as you wish”.
