Well, it’s the weekend and I thought I’d have a quick look to see if the brain needs to be set a background task especially with the poor returns of late, but much to my surprise, all puzzles done before you can say “Robert’s your uncle”. Oh, well, now there is no excuse for doing some of the other tasks that have been stacking up and up and up and up!!

Well todays puzzling was a bit of a blow out.

I didn’t get Wordle or connections. There were a lot of choices with Wordle & i was toying between 2 and picked the wrong one. I should have got the connections as well so disappointed with those.

I don’t normally do the Deluxe until later in the week as it is harder than the regular, but as I had blasted my way through the other puzzles in a matter of minutes, I took on the Deluxe and much to my surprise, I blitzed though that too and got 2* whereas normally I would have needed extra attempts to complete. So it’s actually an amazing start to the week.

Well done Ann - it’s good to get a run together.

I’ve been brought down to earth on the connections. Total mental block and a washout

I felt I was on the right track but had used up my shots before I made a hit.

This is a VERY one-sided thread because you NEVER post the links to the wordles you are all playing. I recommend that you create a whatsapp group for you to share your wordle results rather than cluttering up the SA forum, sorry being a party-pooper!

This thread like any thread on this forum can be read and commented on by anyone who chooses to do so. Like all threads, it is purely voluntary - no one forces you to read it, no one forces you to comment on it. As far as I know we are in compliance with the membership rules and we are not adversely affecting anyone, nor are we having an impact on the performance of this forum and its membership.

I have no idea what this What’s Up thing you are referring to and I have social media accounts. This forum is my only link to the outside world and it is what might be called my social media account.

This forum has given me much support and relief from my role as a carer for a stroke survivor. I appreciate very much any feedback, guidance and support I get from those who choose to read and comment on my posts and in return I try to share my own personal experiences and views. I hope, and I cannot categorically state, that in doing so some also benefit from my comments/feedback at least as much of not more than I have done and continue to do.

I don’t believe I have [ever] acted in an aggressive, forceful or dictatorial manner and if I have it has never been my intention to do so. I would also add, that whilst I have replied to many many members’ posts, only a very small minority have taken exception to me commenting or joining their thread. On such occasions, I have respectfully apologised and stepped away from their threads. That is not to say I do not read them, but if I do, I simply do not join in or share my thoughts or comments.

I thank you for your comment and recommendation to create a What’s Up group but since I don’t know what it is, I cannot do that and in any case I am a technology dinosaur using an old laptap computer which is on it’s last legs. I keep getting messages saying the battery can no longer support your computer and it needs to be replaced or something like that. I have looked but I can’t see any batteries, so I have no idea how I will replace it. It may be that once the battery dies, with it will be my exit from the membership of this forum, a forum to which I shall eternally be grateful for it has done so much for me.

I am not sure you are being a party-pooper, rather you are simply sharing your views

I’m afraid the connections done me again - got the first two and then lost train of thought and blew the third (fourth we are given as a default )

Ok Michelle - I think your mind is rather sharp and I am sure you will do very well with Wordle. The game is a word guessing game and the length of the word is five letters.

Below is a “How to Play” guide.

Each day there is a new word and I don’t sign in and am not registered, but you can if you want to track your progress. It is free to sign up, but I am not interested as I am of the opinion “Nothing is for free!”

Put simply, you have to guess the word in 6 attempts.

You can start with any word of your choice and it must be 5 letters. Enter the word in the first row and click [Enter] to submit your guess.
The system will check and colour the squares to indicate if the letter is correct and in the right place (green), correct but in the wrong place (amber) or default background colour (incorrect). See above graphic.
Then you guess again and submit and again. When you guess the word, all letters will be green and the system will let you know you’ve won!
If you don’t guess it after 6 attempts, it will say unlucky try again tomorrow or something like that.

At the end of the game, you can share your result by clicking on the [Share] button.

Connections took a little but to get going but once I did I got them ok. shame you had a blow out on them yesterday. I think, for me, it is a case sometimes that if I don’t see it quickly then it just doesn’t come although sleeping on it can work as well too. I am just impatient

I am afraid the connections are still the most challenging for me and I had to sleep on it which more often than not does seem to help.

I think luck needed and patience - I might spend 5 minutes staring at the grid and let the brain absorb the information. This used to help when I was hooked on Sudoku.

Whatsapp is a smart phone app that allows you to create select groups of people, i do NoT suggest that you should stop posting on this thread i’m delighted to read about the camaraderie and competitiveness that the group has garnered, thnk you forthe links and instructions. I’m still not ‘getting’ how to play!

I fell for the too obvious trap in connections but once I realised I had done that they then came fairly easily. Hopefully you have more success with them today.

I love using “score” in counting and when talking numbers. Three score and ten sounds so much better than seventy!!

Michelle - I am going to attempt to complete todays’ WORDLE with you.

I’m assuming you will be around during the day and so I will start now.

The game starts with your first word.

It’s just a word guessing game and the word is always 5 letters.

So today, I start with

In response to my choice of VOICE the system has left four letters as the original background and coloured the second letter “O” in amber - this is telling me the four letters with the original background are incorrect, but the “O” is in today’s word but in the wrong position.

So now, I use this information to think of another word that contains the letter “O” but that is in another position.

You can choose your own word to play along.

SECOND GUESS

So now I am going to guess THORN

The system responds telling me T, H and N are not in today’s word but O and R are.

Further it tells me, O is noe in the right position, but the R is not in the right position.

So I can think of another word with this new information and so I go for …

THIRD GUESS

So now I am going to guess BROOD

The system responds telling me B, O in 4th position and D are not in today’s word but R and O in third place are.

Further it tells me, because they are in GREEN they are in the right positions..

Now with this new information I can guess the fourth word …

So now I am going to guess P R O W L

The system responds telling me P, W and L, the new letters I have used are incorrect but the correct RO in second and third place are still OK.

Middle row has been “edited” as it contains information that gives clues to the answer as I have already played this game and am retrospectively documenting it.

BUT you get the idea of how this works.

NOTE:

If there were letters that had been guessed and which were in todays word they would likely be shown as having WHITE with ORANGE/AMBER background.

One final note, colour scheme may differ in your personal preferences and device you are eusing but the principle is the same.

Armed with that information you can now guess again - Guess number five …

The system responds telling me G, R, O and S are all correct and S appears twice in positions 4 and 5.
