Wordle went well again. Though did have to rack my brains to get a 2nd word. Couldn’t think of a word where O wasn’t the 2nd letter. I can think of lots of them now

Disappointed that I didn’t get the connections especially the planet/dwarf planet - just haven’t started to think in the connections solving mode yet, though Wordle is almost becoming second nature now.

I had to use your technique to get a clue. The only Hoagie I know is Hoagie Carmichael and nothing in this list of words connected to that so I checked and once I saw it was a long rolled sandwich a la Subway, the puzzle fell into place. I don’t think that is cheating, but if it is, what the heck?

Weather here is not so good, but I don’t plan to do much. I’ll watch a bit of snooker, read a few posts on here might be quiet and maybe bake Bobbi’s cup cake. I bought the ingredients yesterday and so it is a matter of psyching myself up.
Nearly got the connections but goofed on the Blue Group - Didn’t understand the logic for the purple group.

I too didn’t know what a hoagie was & looked it up. That helped yesterday.
I got the connections today. The purple group sorted itself out for me. I wpuld never have got it but having seen it I could work out what they were saying. The beginning of each word is another word for tease. So KID, MOCK, RAZZ, RIB.

Didn’t get chance to bake yesterday and today I was busy with other things. Hopefully I will get a chance tomorrow.
Mum’s system became unstable after we were forced to change her diet due to a stock outage at Abbott (Ensure feed) and she is quite uncomfortable. Luckily her usual feed is now back in stock and so hopefully by the end of the week she will be her usual self 
Nooooo, Not thick at all. I think with these things you either seecthem straight away or they just don’t come. I only got them by default but at least ifcI’m struggling in future I will have a look & see if they have done something similar again.
Sorry to hear your mum has been unstable & I hope she settles again quickly. It’s amazing how changing her feed can cause the issues it has. I wonder if that’s why I have been having trouble getting Ensure drinks.
This morning connections came easily. I learnt from yesterday so was able to spot what I thought was a connection with an incorrect letter. That gave me the purple category.

Yes, the stock out was a bit of a shock and disappointment. In this day and age when you have technology to help and forward plan, how can you be out of essentials? They must know the demand on the product and be able to plan for it.
Still it is what it is - it is just one more hurdle put on Mum’s path and she just doesn’t care, she just crosses them all.
A couple of todays connections are to do with gemstones & getting better as in recovering. Don’t know if that will help.
Good to hear your mum is better today. Yes, i take 3 Ensure drinks a day. I am not peg fed but I have lost a lot of weight since my stroke & can’t seem to put it back on. I am still not gaining weight but I havebstopped losing it so happy with that for now.
Your mum is a remarkable as are you & your sister (?) Hoping it’s a sister & I am not muddled.

Thanks for the comment about Mum - she is quite remarkable
I have two sisters, one younger and one older. Younger one is helping me look after Mum as well as doing her day job which is also quite remarkable too
The elder sister is married and lives locally. She is not hands on but helps out when she can.
Are you not able to tolerate regular foods? Mum also takes 3.5 bottles of ensure daily, but that is her only food. The rest is water and an asprin and also HyFiber - this was added about a year ago to help form the stool as her diet is liquid.
Mum did not lose weight per se, but in the first month after the stroke, she was on drip feed (no food) and so lost about 4 Kg during her time in hospital (nearly 4 months). After that she gradually put it back on and returned to her pre-stroke weight and she has maintained that pretty much as a constant except when she ends up in hospital when she loses a bit of weight.
The biggest frustration for us is her communications. We still can’t get her to communicate in a way we can easily understand and so sometimes we end up spending a lot of time trying to troubleshoot her woes.
But we get there in the end
I think your whole family are remarkable. I take my hat off to you all as I know caring for someone is not at all easy.
I have 2 sisters too and I am the middle one. One lives fairly local and the other 200 miles away so don’t see that much of her.
I am able to tolerate food and I eat 3 meals a day along with some snacks too but i just can’t gain weight. I have had more tests than I know what to do with but the Dr in the end has put it down to my stroke. I have never felt hungry since my stroke & have no appetite and eat because I have to rather than through any enjoyment. It is weird but I just make the best of it.
Shame about connections. It is easy to lose patience with it when it just isn’t happening. I did that with wordle a few days ago.

It is weird how things turn out or how our lives turn out. Our elder sister lives within 10 minutes walking distance but we don’t see her as much as you might think. I remember when we were living 200 miles apart and then we used to see her more
Your condition is very interesting - I didn’t know you can lose so much weight and have difficulty keeping it on to the extent you need to take food supplements. Clearly, the stroke has done something to kill the appetite and taste buds. It’s such as shame you are (or some stroke survivors) are unable to enjoy food. I know there are different camps on the subject of food i.e. those who eat to live and those who live to eat, but to be denied the pleasure of food can’t be nice.
This is one of the strangest things with Mum. We just can’t get her interested in food or drinks. All she has ever had post stroke is water and the food supplements (jevity and now ensure) and the occasional medicines. Before the stroke, Mum was more of a eat to live person though she did like to cook for others and some of her dishes were very good and much requested. I remember I took some of her snacks to work and on a few occasions my colleagues remarked Mum should go into business
We still keep trying to get her to take something by mouth because one of our fears is (and you may be aware though I know there is a lot to remember with all the contributions you make and all the people you help) that the PEG tube will become unfunctional and then that will be it because the consultant has refused to replace the PEG tube. He wasn’t monitoring and we didn’t know and when we did find out he declared it was too late (it wasn’t / isn’t) but her age is scaring him and he simply wants to take no risks. He has refused to take her condition into account i.e. she is very strong, her obs BP etc are all better than expected for someone her age etc. But we are at the mercy of this consultant as he has stated he is the only consultant in this hospital who can carry out the procedure and he will not do it. It seems the doctors have the final say in what and what will not be done for patients. Anyway, we are covering old ground here - let’s leave it in Mum’s hands, I know she knows what she’s doing and she is doing amazingly well. Her bloods have just been taken and I fully expect the results to come back clean

We definitely do take a lot of things for granted until such a time as we can’t do them anymore. It’s funny you should say that about your sister because my local sister I don’t actually see that much of as life things get in the way. But my sister who lives 200 miles away will visit from time to time and because she makes a journey to see us we spend more quality time together.
I did know you were having an ongoing “battle” with the hospital over your Mum’s PEG. I would hope that the hospital would sort it if the PEG became unfunctional but I also know that it isn’t that simple and if they decide not to unless you find someone who is willing to do it privately then there probably isn’t much you can do. It really shouldn’t be an age thing but it does seem to be more and more. I do remember being told by my OT that the only reason I got an appointment so quick was because I had indicated an intention to return to work. Otherwise they were only seeing people who were in immediate danger. The NHS resources are so stretched and I can’t see how we are ever going to get out of it. I hope that one day your mum suddenly decides that she’d like to eat some food again. Would make things easier for you all.
I don’t understand my weight issues. I’ve had many tests and they can’t find anything serious wrong (thankfully) so I just have regular blood tests and discussions with the GP from time to time. I would imagine if there was anything serious causing it I would know about it by now as it has been ongoing for 3 years. I do enjoy some foods but find since my stroke things don’t quite taste the same. I’m guessing as well that as I have lost weight my stomach has shrunk so it just can’t take the same intake as it used to. That’s not a bad thing………I was a bit piggy at times before and ate too much bad stuff. I have altered my diet a bit because I had high cholesterol too and we have the genetic version that runs in the family.
I did ok with connections today. I had to revisit it a few times but did get there. The game one I had worked out it was probably some sort of game but didn’t know which one and took pot luck with the 4th item.

Wordle really stumped me though. I did get the word in 4 attempts but it took me forever to work out a word starting with y with an e & a in 2nd & 4th slots. When it came to me I should have got it sooner as it was a very familiar word.
