Adaptive clothing

Eight months after my stroke, unable to use my left arm or hand, so have problems putting on trousers because of the flies and fastenings, I have some from theablelabel.com that I can wear with a ratchet belt, but even that those can be awkward to do up the Velcro fastening,
primark are launching a range of adaptive wear but that will not be available in Scotland initially,

Any recommendations for jackets or trousers please, especially smart ones, as I’m getting fed up with joggers

Hi, I have the same problems with my left arm and hand. I tend to go for M&S high waisted jeggings, no zips or buttons to deal with. Not the sort of thing I would have worn before my stroke but nowadays have to go with what’s comfortable and easy to get off and on. I also wear leggings. I have one pair of smart trousers with an elasticated waist which are also very comfortable, again no zip or buttons. They were also M&S a couple of years ago. I need my husband’s help putting a jacket on.

Hope this is helpful and I will be looking out for the Primark range of adaptive clothing if it comes to my area (Kent).

Regards

Sue

Try keying in ’ adaptive clothing for disabilities ’ into google. There seems to be a whole range of sites that cater to disabilities, it’s more a case sifting out the uk sites. Despite all this, it still seems to be a niche in the market for some enterprising young person to tap into.
