Working on mobility and a fear of the floor

This is a preview to thank @EmeraldEyes for her valuable instruction, and @pando for being an inspiration.

I have far to go but I am determined to ‘make strides.’ This is a taster of my progress so far.

We all move at a different pace. After three years I will never be the hare. The tortoise has been known to arrive at some later date, or so I’ve been told.

In between striving for perfection I will enjoy the blue skies, the sunshine, the cooling rain and the company of good friends.
I will get pleasure from messing about on my Blog and YouTube.

Life is good.

keep on keepin on

Well done. It’s an essential skill o have. And one you hope to never need! Can I suggest that you put your affected foot flat on the floor and use the strength in your good leg to push you up to standing. I find that works for me as I don’t need to get my toes involved (which you need to if you’re the other way round).

Thanks both of you. Your encouragement is valuable. I have a long way to go but it feels like progress is possible.
Keeping a video record will help me review my activity and may be of use to others even if it is how to not do things..
I will continue in the hope that I can move in a positive direction.

Amazing Bobbi. You have come such a long way in the time i have known you.

I remember the first time i ended up on the floor after my stroke. I dropped something & plonked myself down without giving a thought to it. Then realised I didn’t know how I was going to get up. Half hour later I was uo…not very pretty but it did then spur me on to practice it more.

Keep practicing you’ll get better & better.

So so proud of you Bobbi, you nailed that time
And as you grow in strength, as it is a fully body workout, you will further refine that process. And you were pretty quick with it too, it helps when you know just how to do it. I still love how you make use of your stroke arm, that’s so important for training your brain to use it.

I wouldn’t advise doing it more than once a day (or twice) at the most for now because it require quite a bit of exertion at the moment. And you don’t want to put too much stress on your organs. And it’s certainly not one for you to do when you’re running on empty. You should never exert yourself like that when energy levels are low. So always make sure you’ve eaten recently before doing it, when your energy levels are at their max is the best time  So breakfast/lunch would be the prime time.

 Keep on keepin on Bobbi :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
