Hi Lorraine @EmeraldEyes ,
I understand why you don’t like the game - it seems I should have explained how it is played. Sorry about that
Let me see if i can put that right and then maybe with a bit of luck and possibly interest, there might be few more players join us.
Wordle is a word guessing game invented by a Welsh software engineer called Josh Wardle (see what he did with the name ?). I read he did it during the Covid lockdown to entertain his girlfriend. Anyway it wenrt viral on the social media and eventually The New York TImes bought the game off him (and I think they tweaked it and Americanised it a little - just my personal observation).
Each day you get to guess a new word and you get 6 attempts, which generally is enough, but sometimes I don’t manage to guess it, but I am getting better - practise makes (did I choose the right one - English?) perfect
I can explain this
The image is what someone shares with others without giving the answer away.
To further explain, when I played today I got the answer on the 6th guess and I shared it with the community.
What this image says is
- My first guess was wrong - all grey boxes
- My second guess had one correct letter but it was in the wrong square (orange box)
- My third guess had two correct letters (green boxes) and 3 wrong letters (grey). Note: The orange box as was is now grey because I used the letter from the second guess in the new word placing it in the 2nd or 3rd box)
- My fourth guess got me closer by giving me three green boxes
- My fifth guess was even better (four green boxes and with that I was able to correctly guess the word with my last attempt
- My sixth guess was correct (Phew!) as indicated by five green boxes.
I hope that helps.
