Woozy

Had an ischaemic stroke in October. Recovering well. However feeling woozy this morning and my eyes are bothered by using my phone- feels like a regression . Is this because I exerted myself yesterday? I’m guilty of not resting enough often , I’m well aware.

Thanks in advance

It could be because you have done too much. I get like that when fatigued. Oct isn’t that long ago in stroke recovery terms so you probably need to rest up a bit more as your brain is still healing.

If you are concerned speak to your GP or 111.

Hi Seddso, I agree with @Mrs5K. Fatigue and sensory changes can be unpredictable, and it’s understandable to feel the way you do. You’re not alone. Hopefully, some rest helps, but if you’re still unsure, checking with your GP might give you peace of mind.

How is your blood pressure, has that been checked recently. Has any medication for it been changed recently or have you recently started any other new medication? If it were me, I’d want to see my gp but I know how hard that can be. Maybe try the 111 service and see what they think.

Hi, I’ve come to the conclusion that progress is less like 2 steps forward and one back and more like a tangled ball of string. The process takes grit, determination, definitely rest (I’ve just been asleep for 90 mins, not out of choice but necessity.) and the awkward bit, deciding if how I feel today is a normal problem or something I should seek help about.
For me doing too much one day can cause issues the next, especially if I say I feel so much better today, it’s the kiss of death, figuratively speaking!!

Oh yes, a tangled ball of a string is a great way of describing it.

I find that fatigue often hits me 2 to 3 days after I have over done it which makes it more difficult to identify. I used a diary to help with this for the 1st couple of years. I am a long way from havinf my fatigue under control though but that’s probably related to my work.

Agree with this. Think some stress over the weekend certainly didnt help. I’ve rested all day now. Left my phone alone as much as possible. Woozy has gone. Been thinking I have some eye strain as my prescription changed post stroke. So I’ve made the display on my phone bigger , and I think that’s helping.

Thanks everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Glad things have settled. I think one thing we all forget is that resting means complete rest. Watching TV, using phones, listening to music etc is all stimulation for the brain and sometimes it just needs to switch off completely. I can often be found sat in silence with my eyes shut to give my brain a full rest.
