Will it ever get easier?

I am 25 years old, I had my stroke when I was 17. Though it's been 8 years since it happened, I still have regular panic attacks and constant anxiety. I am always worrying "will this be the day I have another one" I'm scared it's going to continue affecting my life. I've tried anti anxiety medications and none have helped so far. I just want to feel safe and comfortable in my body again.

Dear Jessica

Unlike other people, we get to take medication to prevent a further stroke. And we get told about diet and exercise. So we are far less likely to have another stroke.

Also, it is often a terminal attack, but you have survived. You are a special person, chosen to live.

I hate that you call it "my" stroke. You did nothing to encourage the stroke to bite you and its not "yours" but an unfortuneate episode in your life.

So keep smiling, be positive and think about all the things that you can do.

Best wishes

Sorry to hear your having panics - have you tried mindfulness? Lot of resources on the net and plenty of free apps. I meditate and it heplps me to centre myself and calm myself down.
