Sounds ridiculous but meditation is awesome for pain management. It’s amazing what the mind can do to the body. I often tell myself “pain don’t hurt” if it bothers you and gets on top of you it becomes more of an issue…..not sure if I’m making sense. Sometimes I like it, let’s me know I’m still alive. Good luck.
yes it is ; first control your breathing - my discipline is with qigong here and the power of chi - then you can start to focus the mind. A good environment is essential
@RLK You appear to be doing all the correct things. My chiropractor is amazing, unfortunately I do not have access to a bath, because I know that would help tremendously. Keep doing what you are doing, it takes a long time and a lot of patience. I thought I would never be free of back pain, but after months and months, thanks to my chiropractor and stretches, I am. Good luck
Hi, as someone who has had both neck and spinal issues I use Epsom salts as suggested but also a long hot water bottle (long and skinny) and microwave heated bean bag things some are scented orange oil is my favourite- not sure of the theraputic value but the smell relaxes me so much. Also would depending on your wives situation try placing a tennis ball at the affected area and rolling -I do this on the floor but think on armchair with a tall stiffer back side to side movements may help is thus is possible. The tissue release can be immense. Good hydration is also another one.
As a follow up , we are still working on my wife’s various pains. I added a memory foam mattress topper for her comfort. We’ve gone through a series of medication targeting her pain to no avail. Side effects cause stoppage of use. In suggesting meditation she isn’t very receptive to the idea of mind over pain. Just found a chiropractor who has a shock wave therapy machine . Hoping this helps. If i understand , the neck pain is very common? Wonder if stress compounds the problem with the muscles but still learning. The massage therapy is being handled by professional. She still goes to acupuncture ,PT and takes hot baths. Has used epsom salts and will encourage her you keep using it. Along with the above she incorporates daily exercises at home to reduce her level of dizziness , strengthens her muscle to loosen neck and back pain. Regards to you all in 2026. Rick
