Weight gain after stroke

Hi Colin, I must admit I’m finding it hard to drink a good amount of water.  I think I’ll have to buy some large bottles and drink one a day.  My toes are now fully functional, as are most of my working parts.  I wish you well.

I hated drinking the extra water. But once I learnt that the brain doesnt feel pain and just takes liquid from the body, so that we dont know its thirsty. Plus I learnt that the brain was busy rewiring and thus was near to boiling and bubbling over, then I was convinced to drink an extra pint a day. I did some yoga, which suited me and I loved the benefits from that. The yoga teacher got me to drink sparkling mineral water (sorry about the plug, but I have to describe it as Pellegrini) then the extra water was OK. So a bottle of that each day could be beneficial.

You sound as though you are progressing nicely. Thats excellent.

Another contributor has just reminded me that we should smile. And that works wonders. A false, forced or fake smile will do. And I think its good at combating lockdown misery. So Lets all smile a lot.

Just stumbled across this - very useful advice Colin. I've noticed I've been more thirsty this last year and not really thought much of it, but I had noticed it going hand in hand with fatigue. I'm sat with my 4th glass of water this hour trying to quench my thirst, it seems timely to have found this tip!

Really is a good idea to keep the brain hydrated.

I never felt thirsty, and this ties in with the fact that the brain doesnt feel any pain etc, so it doesnt tell you it needs water.

So the rest of your body could get thirsty as the breain is taking first dibs on the water supply.

I wonder what the link is with thirst and SF. Probably none at all, but it keeps me wondering.

We all need to remember to check our health other than the stroke stuff. I assumed everything was stroke and of course it isnt the case.

Stunningly lovely sunny day here. Even my cat doesnt want his warm and cosy indoors spot. He has gone out already. Its 8.15am.

Thanks Colin, I’ll give that water a try as ordinary water is so boring!
