Walking my dog

Today marks the first lengthy dog walk I have participated in since my stroke and the first in our new home. It was about a half mile round trip on my mobility scooter with my wife accompanying me as it was pre stroke and I am really pleased !

A mixture of pavement and woodland paths were overcome in the loop that took twenty minutes from start to finish. We met other people walking along and other dogs one bumping into the scooter when I was stationary. I went out on a fully charged scooter and the trip didn’t make an impact to the scooters charged state inspite of some hills and uneven paths.

Thanks Nicky, I wish it was as the pre stroke me used to be but I’ve adapted using the scooter to bridge the time gap between then and now besides it helps any fatigue issues even if I could walk as before More time to pass four years post the incident but need as much Time again if I’m lucky. Who knows.

That is wonderful Mark - the dog will get used to it and he’ll be a lot happier with the family.

Keep it up!

Well done. Another success.
The scooter makes a big difference, doesn’t it? Letting you get involved once again.
A true ‘good mood machine.’
Joining the Scooter Club is definitely a good move.

Keep on trundling along

That’s a great achievement, well done you. I use a mobility scooter occasionally if we are going somewhere that’s too far for me to walk and it has opened another world for both of us.

As you say, I would rather be walking around like everyone else but being able to get out using the scooter will do for now.

I bet your dog enjoyed having you out with him too. Keep up the good work and enjoy many more trips out.

Yes he is happier when his family is with him.
The scooter club is a definite bonus currently local travel but planning to take it to some national trust locations where I would struggle with walking any distance.

if you struggle loading/unloading your scooter then most National Trust sites have scooters and wheelchairs that be borrowed.
Also garden centres, supermarkets, shopping centres have scooters for borrowing.

It is the best of days Anna just wish I was fully fit and able as I was before the stroke. That always lingers in the back of my mind with everything I do.
