Vocal cord dysfunction

Hi everyone.

Hope everyone is well. Sorry I haven’t been on here for a while. My partner who has had dysphagia since his stroke is having long term issues with coughing and breathing problems when moving. It all started as soon as he had the stroke. After doing some research I think it’s possible he may have vocal cord dysfunction. Gp has been ruling things out like heart failure, asthma and acid reflux etc. Even though his speech and language therapist thinks VCD is possible and needs a referral to ENT to confirm or rule out the gp’s are reluctant to do this. I was wondering if anyone had heard of vocal cord dysfunction or had any experience of it. Thankyou xx

@paula123 No I have not heard of it, but I am sure that someone on here has or has had the sae effects. I wish you and your husband well :revolving_hearts:

Thank you. Just spoken to gp regarding referral and was expecting to fight his case as they usually just say “try these tablets“ but they agreed and was doing the referral letter while I was on the phone requesting he be seen as soon as possible! Hopefully will get some answers soon. Xx
