Underrated bands or songs

Ah, this where you are mistaken. The Beatles were a parody of The Rutles

Neil references the dispute in the song somewhere.

I listened for it and couldn’t hear it, but the song is catchy enough for me to listen to it. I love the way they parody the Beatles - his John Lennon is perfect (and OK, it is a parody of the parody of the Rutles, but whatever!)

Aha it worked! Looking at Neil Innes I was reminded of this fella Vivian Stanshall who I saw in a play at the Bloomsbury Theatre, it was called Stinkfoot…hilarious night…wasn’t a great fan of the Bonzos, but now another curiosity to dust off maybe

Good post. I’m an Urban Spaceman, a definite one to get out on a Friday night. :ringed_planet::ringed_planet::ringed_planet::ringed_planet:

Another tune, that came into my head this morning and I thought it well worth a dust off. It’s a song my youngest son and I like to listen to together. It was released in 1978.

Trivia time. The song was a b-side, but Kenny Everett used to flip the a-side over and just play the b-side which made it a minor hit. Kenny did the same thing with Bohemian Rhapsody, but in that case Queen’s song became a massive hit. Good old Kenny.

I never heard this when it first came out, but came across it about a year ago when I was looking up another Miike Snow track (‘Animal’ from Friday Night Dinner, great show). I love the song and the video equally.

This song never charted in the UK. I don’t know why, it is a favourite of mine. Released 1978.

Lurve Warren Zevon…had “Disorder in the House” playing as they brought my late partner’s wicker coffin into the crematorium….bit morbid I know but he would have enjoyed it…his drumsticks were on the top, but I grabbed em before they went through the curtain….strangely, this is a good memory now x

One of my all time favourites.

Not sure if I came across it because it was featured in “The Color of Money” (a remake of the 1961 film “The Hustler”) with Paul Newman and Tom Cruise, but it did lead me to get the soundtrack of the film for this song.

You may already know other bits of trivia related to this song including it was written as a joke and dare after Phil Everly suggested to Warren Zevon he write a fun pop song and dance craze using that title of the 1935 horror movie Werewolf of London on late-night TV that Phil had just watched!

Warren Zevon, Phil Everly, Paul Newman, Tom Cruise …

I’m pretty sure he performed this live on the “Later with Jools Holland” shown on the Beeb.

Thanks for the memories.

Nothing particularly morbid about it, sounds like a better send off for it.
