Currently one month post stroke seem to be recovering reasonably well bk hobbling about up n down stairs etc yesterday was discharged from rehabilitation centre got home and picked up some ice with good hand and couldn’t feel a thing so run tap over it and was no different between hot n cold. This really freaked me out n started to panic hoping just reaction to medication think good side all slight numb rather than it just being thermal issue, other than that all working perfect, anyone any idea what’s goin on… bizarrely my affected side is improving regarding thermal sensitivity
Hi Nicol,
you have some peripheral neuropathy there, possibly. Yes, statins are known to cause this, though it’s often denied. Other meds too; a shady subject so I won’t dwell. Could be nervous system rebalancing after stroke; best thing is to not fret. I’ve been through this (there’s not much I haven’t been through).
Good luck, Roland
Hi @Nico1986 , welcome aboard. I think I would have freaked a wee bit too. As you have only joined the ranks of “I’ve had a stroke”, so recently and are just home, although the chances are it’s your body getting the hang of the new you, I would be inclined to mention it to someone, apart from us.
You may have been given the number of a community based stroke nurse and she might be a good place to start or any phone contact numbers you may have been given. Your GP should be able to guide as well.
In the early stages of adapting we need support and reassurance a great deal and deserve to get it. Wendy
Hi @Nico1986
Welcome to the community, I’m sorry to hear about your stroke and the difficulties you’re having with your non affected side.
I would echo what @Bagrat has said about contacting your GP or a community based stroke nurse. In the early days after a stroke there a lots of things that may come up which you might need reassurance on.

A couple of times I woke up and couldn’t move my fingers on my good hand. Had to wiggle them with my bad hand and they worked fine then. Thought I may have been lying on my arm, it was a bit odd.
@Nico1986 hi and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you’ve had a stroke. I think any symptoms that are on the opposite aide to your stroke affected side should probably be checked out. Not sure which part of your brain was affected by your stroke but there are some very rare syrokes that affect both sides it is extremely rare but not impossible.
It could be a medication affect too but definitely get it checked out.
Best wishes
Ann

Think Roland on the money one of symptoms about the foot feeling like in a sock was spot on, learned more off here than 8 hours in a&e, out of interest did the Peripheral neuropathy clear off
Glad you got yourself checked out & pleased they didn’t find anything concerning. Hope the MRI happens quickly.
This likes like a case of “she blinded me with science”
As far as I can make out, it is not clear what is going on and the MDT should discuss to agree on an outcome/recommendation.
That’s just me looking at the note and trying to understand it as a layperson.
Language used is what I call neutral and I expect the best way to find out is in person with the consultant.
I can’t say more than that.
When does the MDT meet?
Am no expert but it looks like it is saying nothing abnormal detected on CT scan. That your recent stroke caused right sided weakness but nothing obvious found for your left sided symptoms. They’re going to pass it to neuro multi disciplinary team to discuss further.
I am no expert though so please speak with your GP who can explain it all to you.
