Today’s achievement

I have been wanting a new kitchen table and chairs for a long while. We are short of space in the kutchen so has taken ages to find something that will fit.

Today I took delivery of a new table and chairs and there the adventure started.

As with everything it needed assembly. I haven’t done anything like this since my stroke so had no idea whether I could sort it or not. Nothing ventured Nothing gained so off I set with a lot of parts, a bunch of tools and some picture instructions. I hate picture instructions- i need words.

A few hours later. And this is the result.

I am absolutely worn out but very proud of myself. A very big rest now along with a treat.

The test will be when hubby gets home. He’s a carpenter so I am sure he’ll offer some feedback

Well done you  . That’s brilliant. I have to admit that I couldn’t have done that before my stroke :joy:.

Hope your hubby isn’t too critical, it looks perfect to me.

I am really pleased. It was very hard work & some of the bolts need to be tightened a bit more (that’s hubby’s job) but we have a functioning table & chairs & will be using them for tea tonight

Andso you should be proud, very well done :clap::clap::clap::clap:

And, coincidentally, we’ve just bought our new kitchen dinning table today :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: But we won’t be taking delivery of it until the flooring has gone down next month. But it’s a tad bigger than yours because there’s 4 of us to fit round it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Will your hubby double check the joints before he sits down in it I wonder…that’s what mine would do

@Mrs5K

I think that furniture was a craftily disguised stroke therapy & recovery exercise kit.

Maybe it should be standard issue with a certificate of competence granted on completion of the task. Well done. You passed with distinction and deserve your well earned reward.

That looks like a job well done Ann
I am sure hubby will be suitably impressed!
It’s even more impressive to think you did this using hand tools.

Well done and happy meal times

Well done Missus. We’ll all be round later to help you celebrate! I would love to celebrate now with a cuppa and a Kit-Kat. Hubby has suddenly gone deaf and we haven’t got any Kit-Kats, Darn it! I’ll have to put t’kettle on mesen, wi’ a mouldy old digestive. Yuk. Best wishes Norma

J hope your table & chairs cknecready built  we do have a bigger table in the dining room this is just our too lazy to set the dining table one :rofl:

Hubby didn’t quite check all the joints…i am sure he will when I am not looking

The fact that we used it last night & it hasn’t collapsed is a big win in my book.

Now there’s a thought. It certainly taxed the brain and I even got to use my affected arm too.

I enjoyed my reward & will take my distinction thank you

Oh yes no power tools allowed…the instructions said so :rofl: it’s probably a good thing I didn’t have them. There would have been holes everywhere.

Table and chairs still standing so I think all worked out well.

Thank you. Hubby did say well done. He’s not one for dishing out compliments so I take that as a big win

Thank you. They’re not easy to do & pcitures describing how it fits together just don’t help me at all.

I did have to do the 1st chair twice as I had some bits left over - whoops :face_with_hand_over_mouth: became easier after that though.

The more the merrier. I might even have a kit kat to share

Excellent, I know plenty of people without strokes who find this kind of thing daunting, so you’ve done very well. Great also that you can sit there and enjoy the results of your labour.
