The Lark Ascending

This morning we did the 1.2 km grand circuit at King’s Weston in reverse, leading to the nickname for this walk, The Lark Descending, a parody on the famous work for violin and orchestra by Vaughan Williams which recalls the heavenly song of a skylark. This is where it was written. King’s Weston House itself is a stunning example of English Baroque architecture, featuring grand proportions and elegant design. The surrounding landscape was also designed with grandeur in mind, incorporating terraces, avenues, and vistas. The house was requisitioned for military use during WWII, and this particular avenue features plumbing from the Victorian era, bringing running water and showers, originally used for cleaning & gardening. Thursday 14th, Yang, 6 days earlier was the first time I completed this walk, albeit in counter-clockwise direction.

@pando I’m listening to The Lark Ascending as I write. Beautiful piece of music. I was classically trained to play piano (very rusty now) - pre stroke I was playing in the worship group at church! Big difference😆. I can still play but the left hand isn’t fluid anymore. I know you still teach violin. Are you able to play at all now?

Lovely to live so close to where The Lark Ascending was written. The grounds of that country house look amazing - I would imagine the bird sounds are musically endless amongst all that woodland.

Well done for completing The Lark Descending circuit this morning😁

Hi Trace,

Unfortunately I don’t play… yet. Not for lack of movement, but for lack of touch ‘mechanosensory’ perception; not enough feeling…yet. Since I was trained to perform on stage, and did so throughout Europe, I now teach, listen and paint watercolours. On a good day it time for walkies!

Lately, I’ve been looking into grounding / Earthing… I would imagine you might know / have experience with this? Anyway it was a lovely morning yesterday, but today 1 degree and snowing for a short spell,

Thx for chat, ciao, R

@pando I too like the Lark Ascending.

Well done on your long walk. It looks lovely there & I imagine a beautiful walk.

We’ve had plenty of snow the last few days so very little outside walking for me this week.

Look forward to your next achievements.

Best wishes

Ann
