Thanks to y’all for your support

Hi everyone,
I had my stroke in October while sitting eating dinner. Then I went to bed all night thinking it was just a migraine as I didn’t have the symptoms you see in the Ads.m, I just had a severe headache. Thankfully the NHS sorted me out.

Here’s my story in a nutshell, in a screenshot from an instagram story I posted when I was feeling energetic and grateful for the NHS being free of charge.

New to this group. Feeling thankful for the support you all provide . Has made me feel better when I’m having my frequent night panics

Hi @Seddso Welcome to the community. Hope you are doing ok after your stroke. I too didn’t initially have the FAST symptoms but after a few days of feeling unwell had a telephone appointment with my GP who thankfully recognised that I’d likely had a stroke & promptly sent me to A&E.

Whilst the NHS is no doubt struggling we do have so much to be grateful to them for. Being able to access emergency care when we need it is invaluable.

You are early in stroke recovery terms yet and hopefully your night panics will ease in time. It’s trying to work out what is normal post stroke & what you need to worry about. You’ll get better at that. But never ignore anything you think needs to be checked.

Best wishes

Ann

Thanks very much Ann. Appreciate that. You tend to forget it’s early days.

Hi @Seddso I’m new to the group too, joined today. I didn’t have any of the FAST symptoms either, I just woke up one morning with my limbs feeling a bit heavy like with a virus, I drove to work, worked all day, drove home, had an early night and it wasn’t until the next day that I had limb weakness but I could still walk, talk and raise my arms, my face hadn’t dropped so I wasn’t aware it was a stroke. It’s not necessarily like you see on the TV ads.

I had my stroke in July so you are still in the first stages.

I had mine in September. Like you I thought it was a migraine or concussion (happened while training).
Woke up the next day and felt ‘drunk’, specifically down my right side. Went to a&e at that point

I had mine in October in the middle of a Migraine, now I’m worried about the next migraine especially as I’ve been told never to take Sumatriptan again for an attack, up to now it’s been my saviour….Im new on here and so glad to listen to all your stories and know this struggle isn’t just me on my own…

Same here. I took a sumatriptan during my stroke in October thinking it was migraine. Now have been banned from using it. Have had one migraine since but thankfully it was only visual with no pain. My Gp gave me aspirin to take but I’m thinking that’s not right, as I had a bleed in the brain during my stroke. :roll_eyes:Will discuss pain relief options at my first stroke review next week.

I’ve been told only to take Paracetamol for an attack Seddso, I’ve no idea what my migraines will be like I’ve been taking Sumatriptan so long, I’m hoping it will just be visual too…

@Seddso , sorry only just seen this as I wasn’t tagged. I recovered well from the stroke, back to driving within 3 weeks (had to legally wait 4). Back to phased return to work after a month. Unfortunately I’m suffering from a frozen shoulder now which is extremely painful but physio, yoga, steroid injection, infra red light treatment, paracetamol, Ibuprofen gel, ice packs, heat pads are helping.
