Subjected to a serious attack today

This afternoon, Hilary and Bob were subjected to a serious cake attack.

It is expected that they will recover from the extra thick cream, chocolate cake and sprinkles.
Although a couple of slices might need to be administered urgently at tea time.
Please keep them and their cake in your thoughts.

It was a bit of a mess but it turned out okay in the end.

My speech for a meeting we will attend tomorrow

Strictly to be shorter than one minute, I am told.

Hi, I am Bobbi
Two years ago I had a stroke.
I am dependant on those who care.
I am one of many.
Please take time to listen.
We have loads to tell you.
I have lost a lot but still have much to share.
I can be useful.
Thank you.

Naughty cake attacking you both like that. hope you’re better prepared the 2nd attack. It looks very tempting to me. I can feel my waist expanding just looking at the picture

A couple of slices have helped speed a rapid recovery.
The speech was a success.

There will be a tomorrow.

Actually, with a microphone in my hand, a roughly scribbled speech on the table and around a hundred people in front of me my voice went all gruff and scratchy as I crumbled into a collapse of confidence, somehow getting through it to be rewarded with a rousing round of applause, a smile and a kiss from Hilary. Then we had to go, the taxi was waiting to take us back home. I could feel those old familiar tears behind my eyes as we walked out of the building into the the sunlight. I had talked about grief, loneliness, self esteem, stroke and went through the whole roller coaster of emotion as I spoke, gripping tightly on my walking stick determined to say what I needed to share. What we already know, what needs to be known…

Hilary cooked a chicken when we got home yesterday.

I’m thinking of claiming some and making chicken suet puddings to be served with fresh green veg, buttery mashed potato and gravy. Tasty English food on a plate.

Glad the speech went well despite your initial wobble. Well done on getting through it sounds like you spoke about a lot of emotional stuff & i bet the round of applause made you feel good.

I think you should snaffle some of Hilary’s chicken too. All in a good cause of course :grin:
