Hi all, I’ve been on HRT for about 18 months, as soon as the Drs heard at the hospital I was taken off it immediately!! I understood why but it’s been a bit of a shock to the ole hormones!!! My poor family have the shock of the stroke as well as my hormones!!
I’m just wondering if anyone is in the same situation and what safe remedies you take instead?
Thank you
Sam x
@Sammy1 I too was taken off HRT alyhough i’d been on it about 9 years at the time. I was really worried i’d get all my previous symptoms back but thankfully they were much less severe.
I know people who went on to patches after a stroke but equally some GPs are reluctant to prescribe them too.
A friend of mine takes seaweed supplements rather than HRT & she says it helps. I’ve never tried so can’t offercan opinion.
Talk to your GP there may well be some alternatives that you can try. Something like the coil maybe although I could be well wide of the mark there.
Hope the hormones settle soon.
Thank you, it’s mainly my emotions, although could well be stroke related as well. My patience is zero and I could cry at anything! It’s so hard to know if the pains are stroke related or hormonal, I don’t suppose it matters either way?! X
There is definitely a crossover between the 2 & it could well be both. I was very emotional after my stroke & could cry if someone just said hello.
Might be worth giving it a bit of time to see if it settles. If not speak to GP re alternatives. Xx
I literally sobbed on my dad on Christmas Day … he’d only said “merry Christmas!”
You sound as bad as me xx
I am pass that stage
Like @msporshakimberly I’m past that stage too. Thankfully I past it before the stroke🙏
Hello @Sammy1. Sadly no magic cure but wanted to give an understanding . 53 now, 50 at the time of my stroke. With you. Battling on, it can only get better surely? X
Oh Julia, it’s a nightmare isn’t jt! My poor son, I’m moaning one minute and crying the next! It is hard to know if the brain fog is stroke or menopause! Hope it eases for you soon x
I was on HRT implants before my stroke. My gynaecologist said I had to stop them after my stroke last September but now I am seeing a neurologist (both private - they know each other) who has said I can go back on them as my heart, brain, BP and cholesterol are all good. I really need HRT because my hormone levels really make me suffer (tired sick feeling on and off all my life) without it.
Oh I’m so pleased for you, that must have been a relief! Sadly I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I’m seeing a lady who specialises in menopause, so I’m hoping she will be able to help. X
My blood pressure been up and sugar
Sorry to hear about your high BP and cholesterol. I am just lucky that mine are low.
I haven’t heard of anybody else having HRT implants but I think they are great if you can have them.
Hi @Sammy1 sorry to hear you had a stroke and I hope you are getting the help you need. I had a stroke and I was on meds. I understand the risk is incredibly low for women under 60yrs old and the type of HRT may be relevant. The clinical research on the link and risk to stroke is still patchy unfortunately.
Thank you I was hoping it would be the same for me but I believe it’s because of my high blood pressure that I can’t. Consultants and GP both said no. I’m hoping some natural remedies will help!
