I don’t often get out and about but last night a friend took me to a Wassailing at a local orchard. Nothing bothers her much so a good companion when you know your stroke symptoms are potentially going to make you an awkward companion. We sang songs around fire pits and I was talent spotted for a local choir as I hit a baritone note at the end of one of the Wassailing songs. I think I will join. Donation, spicy cider was on offer and I admit, I had three cups
. She dropped me back home and I was feeling all spicy and lively, so contacted another friend and asked him to join me at one of the local pubs. It’s only a five minute walk from my house, so wasn’t too big a deal. When I got there, I was delighted to find they had stout (not Guinness but actual stout) on tap. I haven’t seen this in years, maybe about fifteen years here. I was in heaven so, iechyd da … here’s to getting out and about on occasion.
Great to see you having a little fun, @Rups
We survived, life ain’t over, baby blue.

And you looked like you enjoyed the stout. Never tried it or the Guinness you mention. But a late auntie always had a bottle of Guinness every night. I once took her 8 cans and her words were. Cans not bottles. They didn’t have bottles. It don’t taste the same from a can. Ok I’ll take them back home….No leave them I’ll drink them. But next time remember it’s bottles only
She was a lovely person
Great to be getting out and about and enjoying a stout too. Cheers ![]()

Sounds like a great time was had. And the choir got a new recruit too.
I’m not overly keen on pale ales, so when I do have a tipple, I prefer a dark ale, porter or stout. I will tolerate Guinness draught but prefer their original stout, however, that is never on tap. I never drink lager.
Indeed, and I find I feel a bit like a dog being taken out for a walk when I get to treat myself with an outing.
I’m looking forward to joining a choir but I can’t remember which one she spoke of so I have a bit of internet searching to do.
