Start a memory station

Having trouble remembering where you put things? Start with a simple step. Create a memory station. This an anchor. Find a common place where to put things you always misplace.

Great idea.
Thanks for that useful suggestion.

When someone tidies away your memory station . . .
I’ll say no more about that.

keep on keepin on

I try & put things in the same place every time so I can find it next time. Doesn’t always work.

@Bobbi fortunately my hubby isn’t great at tidying things away so my memory station is unlikely to disappear

Wonderful idea - thank you.

i started to do that with my car… i would park and walk along the seafront to work then get to work and wonder where did i park the car, and then walk back, i did that a few times in one day, in the end i got into the habit of recording a little video so when i got to work i could check the video.. having these tools to take a video or photo can help as a reassuring step.. my keys/purse/phone all go in the same space under the tv.. the irony is we dont watch tv

I do like the take photo/make movie idea.

Must remember to do it.

I do have some things I just can’t find.
I’ll have put them somewhere safe.

Just think about it as an anchor. One of my memory stations is my nightstand. I make sure my wallet, phone, and eyeglasses are there when I go to bed. No exceptions. We also have a key stand for car keys, another memory station. My keys are there when I am not using them. No exceptions. I have another memory station that I keep inside my head. I will explain that later.

Hi @Bobbi it is always somewhere safe isnt it, the photos, video do help me when i hit that ā€œno confidence in myself phaseā€ i also have those air tag thingies that generaly tells me the items ive lost is in the house somewhere.. that saves me running off to all the last places i visited..

That’s pretty much what I do too. Now to educate my husband

I have a memory station for glasses, socks, keys, &c. One memory station in each room. There is nothing more infuriating when that thing isn’t in the memory station, I shout to myself ā€˜I always keep it there! Where on earth could it be!’ Grrrrr!
