I hope you do enjoy the others, musical taste is so subjective, I’m very lyric focussed and use the music to drive the lyrics. My hat, indeed, me and my brain, we go everywhere together. You could even say that we are inseparable.
I’m loving it. A great talent you have there @Rups
The videos were not available, briefly, when I posted above. Pretty quickly everything was fine again.
I’ve no idea what happened.
I just undeleted my post about it so you can get an idea of what happened though it’s as clear as mud to me..
(In the space where the videos were was an area stating that the content was unavailable.)
That then returned to normal as I checked out Youtube.
Weird or what?
Loved it!!! Brought a smile to my face. Thank you for sharing. I named my stroke Sparky also.
Wow! @Rups am so impressed … truly. This should go viral, or has it already? I agree with someone who said it captures the essence of Strokes (if I’ve understand it correctly, as still in limbo post tias last month. Really enjoyed the production, your voice (I’d definitely go to that pub performance! Truly brilliant, thankyou, in a bizarre way you’ve cheered me up and inspired me, thankyou ![]()

Hi @Bobbi … I can’t see the links either? ![]()
Diolch yn fawr, I hope it doesn’t go viral because I haven’t had the hwyl yet to practice it with my new kit. As many of these pieces were adapted from old writing, stuff I had written when twenty-one, and rewritten from the perspective of a fifty year old stroke survivor, there is a definite pre-stroke / post stroke dichotomy at work. At the moment I am teaching myself to use Audacity, GarageBand and BandLab, as well as mastering using AI, among a whole group of software I am familiar with but never explored from a purely audio perspective as my further education was mainly concerned with film and television, but the concepts behind the software is similar to using editing software.
I tend to speak sing in a lower timbre because if I try for anything higher, I sound like a banshee.
The benefit I have most experienced with writing the album has been, well, writing again. After a five year lapse. Last book I wrote, I edited while having unbeknownst strokes, so perhaps my brain suffered a creative paralysis because of that and I needed this push to get creative again.
You are getting the encouragement you deserve here so please work on that creative hwyl and bring more for us to peruse and devour.
I think the links are now working as they should. ![]()

@Bobbi doh! I just clicked on the bottom right hand of the video ‘watch on youtube’
I’m nowhere near where @rups is … but maybe (when he goes Viral) he could do a LiveStream. Anyway … Subscribed.
@rups …. no, I want to hear you singing like a Banshee! ![]()
… there’s something in the energy in the videos and lyrics that is so relevant to current t8me. The video Sod’s Law posted on SA … brilliant. I did Communication and Media Studies way back in the day, very early days of editing, computers etc .. and your video ignited me out of the slumber I was in (feeling in a rut); I’ve been pondering doing animation, music, maybe not singing … I’d scare everyone
if I did that
. Brain is still so befuddled I wouldn’t know where to start. But watch this space. ![]()

*the current time we live in (typo)
Sharing amongst the online community has been a good experience for me.
Response is generally positive, the audience is kind and encouraging.
I would urge you to try this space.
There is room for creativity.

Of course one cannot please everyone, but speaking, singing, writing, sharing your truth, is good for us all.
I’ve experimented with Audacity, Flowblade, Gimp, smartphone photography, blog writing and YouTube and I’ve enjoyed putting ideas together using audio and video. Some of it I’ve shared here. So far I haven’t tried AI.
keep on keepin on

I’ve just subscribed to your blog, I didn’t know you could follow the posts but will now be updated when you post.
I haven’t a huge audience but nevertheless I don’t feel I’m wasting my time posting on the Blog.
Some of the material has originally appeared here in the online community forum.
Thank you for subscribing.
I’m still partially housebound but remember back in my early days post stroke reading your posts Rups and looking at your photos as your cat took you out for a walk and you collected a basket of mushrooms.
@Mich-mm once said to me, there is vicarious joy to be had when someone shares their adventures and activity online.
It affirms, yes, this is possible, maybe one day me too.
Having read a comment on my blog by Mitch I might follow up on her request and go on a tour of a local supermarket, have a look around and see what there is to see. Probably worth sharing.
And get some sushi rice while you’re there.
I bought some stuff online but really made a thorough hash of it.
I got all the proportions wrong, used far too much Wasabi paste, made too much rice as well.
My effort wasted a lot of material and was inedible.
I will have another try but for now it is a project on the back burner.

There are two ![]()
sayings I offer to you in this circumstance so that you gain the wisdom of the sushi sensei, 猿も木から落ちる which translates to, even monkeys fall from trees. The other is 七転び八起き which translates to, fall down seven times, stand up eight.
I have much to learn, grasshopper.
Give me time, while I go eat the salad Hilary has so graciously prepared.
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing, really like your voice…a touch Tom Waits and nice range of colours in it.
Diolch yn fawr, aye, flavours of Tom Waits, not too much because I always think Tom Waits sings a bit like Louis Armstrong, but music wise, certainly.
