Short term memory - funnies

So my mobile phone has just gone for a spin through an entire wash cycle in the washing machine! Looked all over the house for it and I heard a few clunks in the machine.

Want to cry but can not help but laugh at myself. It is good to laugh at ourselves right?!

Maybe it is a sign to stop doing housework too?

Anyone else got any funny stories to share?

Oh yes always good to laugh & especially at ourselves.

I had to laugh one day when I hunted high & low for the kettle which wasn’t where it was meant to be. I eventually found it in the fridge. No idea how I fitted it in there without realising I was putting it somewhere it shouldn’t be but it did make me chuckle when I eventually found it.

I also one day when to wash up the coffee cups and put the biscuits away after hubby and I I’d enjoyed a leisurely copper. To find the I put the lovely biscuits in the washing up bowl and the cups back in the cupboard and the lovely biscuits were lovely no more.

Went out Sunday with the back door key in my pocket, came home, went to unlock the back door, couldn’t find the key anywhere. Went through all my pockets, retraced my steps, looked for the obvious place I could have put it, couldn’t find it. Must have spent over an hour looking for it. Gave up in the end.

Then I was in the kitchen and it was there, on top of the microwave, right next to the back door. I must have looked right at it and not seen it. Drive myself mad sometimes.

I’m gonna guess at how it happened.

You were bringing an arm load of washing down stairs. Stuffed your phone into the bundle so your hand was free to hold the bannister.

Got distracted talking to someone at the bottom and stuffed the bundle into the machine forgetting all about the phone ā€˜til sometime later

Well, that’s how I did it anyway, two years ago :sob::frowning:

Good excuse anyway to get a new up-to-date phone :innocent:

Glad I’m not the only one anymore, welcome to the club :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I frequently look for my glasses only to eventually realise that they are on my face. I have also looked for my keys and then found them in the front door.

Pretty much.

I put it in the basket right on top of the clothes. Walked straight to the washing machine. Zero distractions I can think of.

Shoved all the contents of the basket into the machine. Switched it on. Two minutes later… clunk… clunk… clunk… Me hmm I wonder what that is?

Go to find my phone I swear I had it two minutes ago. Get my husband to ring it. Its ringing but always on silent anyway (drives my husband mad!) Second time he rings, straight to voicemail. Then I heard it… clunk and knew what it was

Anyway, my machine is very old and can not pause/ stop the cycle so had to wait it out praying!

It is currently sat drying out in a bowl of rice.

But hey you are right good excuse for a new one :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I went out with my first Mrs to visit friends, share a bottle of wine, play a game and watch a video.

Because of the drink we booked a taxi.

After a very good night we returned by taxi.
At the front door and I asked ā€œDid you take a key?ā€
Nope neither of us had a key.

Ever resourceful, if a little foolhardy, I shinned up a drain pipe at the back of the house and managed to prize open a sash window enough to climb inside.

Once in I grabbed my keys and went downstairs.

The front door was already open, not having keys, we hadn’t locked it as we left.

Oh dear.

keep on keepin on

I hope your phone didn’t shrink. My classic senior moment is hobbling out the house, down the street only to realise I still have my slippers on, this then requires hobbling all the way back again to put on some, more practical, footwear.

Yes…way more times than I can remember. This short term memory is one of the ā€œjoysā€ of this new life the past nine months. You have to laugh at it.
Best to all and Happy and safe Holidays. :christmas_tree::christmas_tree:

Memory was a nightmare for me,I was walking out my front door and pressing the fob on my car keys to lock the flat up :see_no_evil_monkey: and putting the hoover in the bathroom. The other day I opened a bottle of water with the fold over lid,put my mouth on the lid instead of the bottle and poured it all over me. You do have to laugh and I’m just so grateful I’m about 85%to 90% back to normal now,one of the lucky ones :folded_hands:t2: Merseyside Christmas wishes to you all.

That is rough. I left my keys in the fridge once and spent an hour tearing the house apart looking for them. Hopefully the phone survived the spin cycle, though it’s not looking good.

It’s great to hear it is not just me!

Yesterday I completely ruined mine and my daughter’s dinner of only chicken stir fry and noodles and then left the hob on with a pan still on for over an hour after with a couple of stray noodles in and didn’t realise until i smelled a burnt chemically smell! I have come to accept now that I just can no longer multitask. I cannot manage more than 1 pan at a time or a hob and the oven  This is very frustrating especially as this is a big part of my job as a Food Tech teacher and am due to start phased return end of January. Please pray for me!

Tonight however I have managed to not burn anything as I did not make dinner but did manage to make some enormous double chocolate chip cookies and they were absolutely delicious :face_savoring_food:

Merry Christmas to all

My keys have to live in the door lock or I’d totally lose them. I do however keep losing my earplugs I bought for myself to help with my noise sensitivity and tinnitus.

My phone survived! It lived in a bowl of rice over night and is now managing to charge. I was apprehensive about the rice thing. The sound goes in and out when in the phone but so far I think I have had a little luck this year :crossed_fingers:

Hope the phased return goes well,I’m up to 3 days a week and couldn’t imagine ever doing that. First week in August I had mine and being an electrician I honestly thought my work days were over. Only fatigue for me now so hopefully with Christmas off I can push for 4 days early in the new year. Wishing you the very best for your return.

That is promising that you are back to 3 and almost 4 days after such a short period of time it really does give you hope to hear others’ experiences.

Wishing you all the best
