Pre Diabetic

Just popping by to say hi & welcome @Scotia. It sounds like you are doing the exercises you need to and I am sure you will get back to your walking in time. It’s still early days for you yet so listen to your body if it’s telling you to rest as that is just as important at this stage.

Best wishes

Baldrick ; I’m in the same boat

definitely reduce carbs (they are practically sugar which is as good as poison). Next get yourself access to a big GI index chart of all food… I’m sure there’s an app for this ; stick to low GI foods ; in time you will learn the values for each food… (in my case I just have a wife with a photographic memory.)

Still, fasting to rid your bloodstream of sugar ; low GI (Glycemic Index) food, exercise, earthing also lowers blood sugar, and magnesium is known to reverse diabetes according to xyz in the US

I’m sure some of our members will be along to discuss this.

Have you done any reading about fatigue after a stroke? We have some information on our website about fatigue which may be helpful for you.

Oh yes that could very definitely be part of it. It’s your body’s way of telling you you need to take it easy. It’ll improve as time goes on.

Just to follow up - & thanks again everyone- I saw GP yesterday. My numbers were only just over the normal limit so we reviewed medication and I decided best to stick with this unchanged (Dr agreed ) and to tweak the diet to push the numbers back into the normal range. More blood tests in 4 months to monitor how things are going. I have a referral to the diabetes nurse to achieve this.
Elsewhere i had an appt with stroke nurse and the hospital have fully discharged me and passed all care to the GP too. So I felt quite a positive outcome so far. Let’s keep the knowledge going? - I will update as appropriate.
Thanks again everyone :+1:

If your numbers are just over diet changes should help get them down. I know people that have done this.

Great that you have been discharged from stroke team too. I was discharged by my stroke team too a few weeks ago.

Hi Baldrick

I have been type 2 for 12years I kept it at bay for 10 years by that I mean no meds. I felt the main reason I achieved this was obviously my diet and walking it also keeps your blood pressure down just thought I would let you know what worked for me, so good luck.
