Hi all. So this morning my speech went and my right eye started to droop so got taken to hospital with suspected 2nd Stroke. I have had headaches for the last 3 weeks in the base of my skull and accross my head. MRI and CT showed no 2nd Stroke and Stroke specialist referred me to the head and heart team to look at extreem migraines. I just wondered has anyone else experienced this. Last few weeks have been a nightmare and I wondered if its just me.
I had a stroke in early September, in my sleep with no prior symptoms, but am making a good recovery so far, before the event, I used to get very mild headaches and eyesight blurring, which never developed into a full migraine as long as I took 2 Migraleve tablets straight away.
Funny enough, since my stroke, I haven’t had any migraines at all! I still get the occasional mini headache as I did before, but I normally convince myself that it is the brain resetting itself, fingers crossed.!
I sometimes get brutal headaches. Similar spot to before I had my stroke, sometimes a lot more intense. I’m going to see a neurologist next month about it.
Nothing I do seems to ‘trigger’ them, they just seem totally random. Paracetamol usually stops it though. On bad days they’re still dull/need a top up of paracetamol after 4 hours, but on better days the painkillers do the job.
Good to hear you haven’t had a 2nd stroke. I hope you get to see the head & heart team soon & more importantly get some relief from the headaches/migraines.
Delighted to hear your recovery is going well. Takes time but you will get there. I understand i will never be who i was but i am working hard on being the best new me i can be. Just need to sort these headaches and i will be in a good place.
I can understand why you’re worried, I hope you find some answers, I’m a migraine sufferer and it is a worry, my stroke happened mid Migraine, I had taken Sumatriptan which I have been prescribed for 30 odd years, I get an Aura which had just cleared when I had a buzzing in my head and my left side went numb, I’d had a stroke deep in my Thalamus…Initially 111 were telling me it was a possible side effect of migraine, I did used to have numb hands, tongue when I had an attack as a child, now I’ve been told never to take Sumatriptan again, it was possible it had caused the stroke…Ive had one migraine since my stroke four months ago and strangely it was very mild and went away after the aura and left no headache, the Consultant said I was less likely to have attacks whilst on all my meds…
Yeah, initially i was terrified that i was having a 2nd Stroke and now whilst being relieved i am wondering if the migraine thing is going to be something else new I need to contend with. Thanks for your comments. Hope your recovery is going well.
