No such word as can't.

I saw this maybe only a month or so after having my stroke, and it resonated fairly deeply with me especially then.
This is a great idea for a thread. Im a fan of quotes. Ive heard so many over the years in my work, all are valid and personal to the individual. One of my favourites is:
"Today is the 1st day of the rest of your life"
Its one i heard years ago, probably when i was a teenager or something... :)
A few more positives that I used for a craft project last year ![]()

professionals built the Titanic; amatuers built the Arc.
"in 3 words I can sum up everything I know about life - It goes on "
A strong positive message to start the month off...

Something to lighten the mood as we await another lockdown announcement ![]()

We are not all in the same boat but we are all in the same storm
Well done @Mahoney …I’d completely forgotten I set this thread ![]()
Needed a boost as well - so thanks for the quotes.
Best Wishes
Hello @Craftchick, I don’t have specific quotes but my common mantras are:
Be brave.
Face the fear.
I’ve had worse before.
Here are some positive words written by my seven year old great granddaughter.I wish I could do it. I want to do it. I do want to do it. I will think about doing it. I will try to do it.I will do it. Yes I did it. Wise words from a seven year old.
How lovely…very wise indeed
@Craftchick this is my favourite quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald
“For what it’s worth… it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.”
I’m another late one to this post, but there are several quotes I’ve used on myself throughout my recovery.
The best one being: ‘Believe you can and you’re halfway there’, that’s actually by Theodore Roosevelt.
The second best: ‘The best way to get started is to quit talking (procrastinating) and begin doing’.
Especially true of my early recovery because it was so easy to become overwhelmed with all that needed to done to recover. It was very much a case of put on the mental blinkers, shut down all inner dialogue, pull out one task/exercise from my mental tombola and just forge ahead with it until I’m done. Then pick another ![]()
'Fake it ‘til you make it’, something I’ve had to do a lot of over the past 4+yrs with emotions, speech, walking, cognition, etc etc. and it’s helped a lot in re-training my brain.
And another oldie but goodie by Nelson Mandela ‘It always seems impossible until it’s done’. And folk are proving that all the time on here, some even have the video evidence to prove it

And thanks to @Mich-mm for re-airing this post ![]()

I so love that quote from Nelson Mandela one of my many lumineries!
My favourite is 'what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, I often think of all those who should be on this forum but didn’t make it we are a lucky bunch!
I’m always very conscious of the silent ones, as I like to call them. They’re one’s who can just about read a few lines at a time, maybe a short paragraph but not yet fit or able to post themseves yet. I was very much that way myself in my first year or so post stroke

I like that yet another thing I Will adopt from the forum ‘the silent ones’, let us take a moment to think of their family’s and the time together lost. ![]()
