One year today, random thoughts

A year ago you took me
A year ago today
The hardest year of my life
Began that dawn you came.
In frightened state they they carried us
The hunter and the prey
Blue light filled the morning streets
Strange voices in my head.
Was this my final journey,
Was this to be the end,
Without a whisper of goodbye
To family and friends?

Through corridors of staring eyes
Laid waiting side by side
Inside the flashing scanner saw
The ending of that life
The old ways gone forever
But living, breathing, still alive
That day you came and took me.
The day that I survived.

Seems to me a prose about winning. Here is to more besting of this beast!

Reading this makes me want to laugh in it’s face for it’s failure to best us!
